Dark clouds are gathering over the current heads of Ubisoft. Even due to the poor sales of Star Wars: Outlaws and the postponement of the release date of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, the investigative committee will assess the company's recent actions.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced the start of the investigation in a statement that updated financial targets for the current fiscal year.

In the light of recent challenges, we acknowledge the need for greater efficiency while delighting players. As a result, beyond the first important short-term actions undertaken, the Executive Committee, under the supervision of the Board of Directors, is launching a review aimed at further improving our execution, notably in this player-centric approach, and accelerating our strategic path towards a higher performing model to the benefit of our stakeholders and shareholders.

In addition to the official letter, Guillemot also sent a note to Ubisoft employees. Thanks to Insider Gaming, which received it directly from the CEO of the French studio, we can read it. The businessman also mentioned learning from this "mistake," which is meant to be a good motivation for future action, in addition to the information about the start of the explanatory proceedings and the news about a new game distribution model.

Let us recall that recently Ubisoft investors spoke loudly about the desired changes in the company. Among their demands was, among others, the removal of the aforementioned Yves Guillemot from the position of CEO. We will see if the ongoing audit by the investigative committee will end with the dismissal of the co-founder of one of the giants of the video game industry.
