Johnny Depp has many memorable roles to his credit, such as in Pirates of the Caribbean and Edward Scissorhands, among others. However, before he gained recognition around the world and was recognized in the industry, he, like everyone else, took his first steps in acting. His movie debut took place in the hit horror film, Nightmare on Elm Street. So you have to give him credit for starting out really well.

Unfortunately, his second movie was not similarly successful. Private Resort, in which Johnny Depp played one of the leading roles, failed financially and is not liked by critics or viewers. The production tells the story of two teenagers staying at a Florida resort, who, while trying to seduce women, stumble upon a jewel thief.

Johnny Depp, giving an interview to the Lexington Herald-Leader, had nothing good to say about the film he took part in (via Far Out Magazine).

I'd been in L.A. for six months and I did Private Resort, possibly the stupidest film ever made.

The actor suggested during the interview with Lexington Herald-Leader that the film didn't have much to share beyond its “filthy” themes. Nevertheless, he took part in this project, which is a bit of a blot on his filmography. However, it had no significant impact on his career, which was definitely not buried by this one failure, of which Johnny Depp himself is well aware. And today, Private Resort is remembered by few people anyway, while the actor's other, more significant roles are regarded as iconic.
