Crusader Kings 3 Brings Back Popular Mechanics from CK2. You Can Now Play Immortal „Demigod” Again
Do you care about a character that will survive more than a few decades? The new expansion for Crusader Kings 3 will be perfect for that.
Two days ago, Crusader Kings 3 received its third major expansion. Roads to Power expands the world of the beloved strategy game with new content for Byzantium, and it must be admitted that the numbers speak for themselves. The game attracted nearly 48,000 users simultaneously within the first few hours and received almost entirely positive reviews.
Among the introduced innovations were not only the social advancement system and the adventurer's path but also a new feature that we may remember from the previous installment of the series.
How does immortality work?
The "Immortality" feature was originally introduced for the tenth expansion of Crusader Kings 2, called The Reaper’s Due. The expansion focused entirely on the theme of passing and death, primarily expanding the mechanics of the epidemic. In all of this, the player had a chance to gain immortality, thanks to which his character didn't age or get sick.
The transformation into a "demi-god" was quite demanding. We could only reach for eternal power once we had good statistics and a bit of luck in generating random supernatural events.
Interestingly, after some time of holding "eternal" rule, the leader would receive the trait "ruled too long" and then the game allowed for the voluntary end of his life.
Ruler until the end of his days
One of the Crusader Kings 3 fans pointed out the reappearance of immortality in the new expansion. Similar to the second installment, here it also offers eternal health and a youthful appearance.
The difference lies primarily in acquiring the feature. As long as the version known from Crusader Kings 2 was intended for the lucky few, in the third part we can choose it when creating a new character.
This means that existing rulers either won't be able to gain immortality out of thin air, or a way to do so hasn't yet been discovered. Furthermore, a character that is created from the ground up in this manner will be unable to operate within the Iron Man game mode.
This, of course, doesn't reduce the excitement of players who are already preparing the life stories of new characters.
I'll create an over powered immortal adventurer but won't play as him and just watch his journey while doing my own thing.
So now I can make my undying super-king that just wants to make his chill kingdom and not expand its borders. Nice!
