Original news (November 21, 11:58 p.m.)
As previously announced, Star Wars: Outlaws will be released on Steam today at 10:00 a.m. The game will be accompanied by the first narrative expansion - Wild Card - and the 1.4 update, which will introduce quite significant changes. The developers have now unveiled the next set of updates, and upon their launch, they will release a video showcasing all the new features, improvements, and fixes.
End of the requirement to sneak around
Forced stealth sections are one of the elements that was often criticized by players. In the game, there are situations when we have to eliminate opponents quietly, and in case of failure, we are forced to repeat the entire stage. Star Wars: Outlaws creative director Drew Rechner admitted he understands why it might be frustrating. He also confirmed that update 1.4 will remove this requirement from “almost all” missions to give players more freedom.
This doesn't mean that sneaking is no longer a viable or even preferable option in some cases. Rather, if you're caught while sneaking, the objective won't fail and reset you to the last checkpoint. Instead, you'll seamlessly transition into combat.
These aren't all the changes announced by Rechner. Version 1.4 will also introduce:
- the ability to fight in Syndicate districts – previously we could only sneak there;
- significantly longer storage of weapons found in the field, with a wider range of possibilities for their use in various situations;
- weak points of enemies – hitting them will cause more damage.
Is it enough for 'millions of players to play Outlaws for years'? This is a difficult task, however, these are certainly changes in the right direction, providing greater freedom during play.
It's worth noting that Star Wars: Outlaws on Steam uses Denuvo protection and requires us to have a Ubisoft account. The price hasn't yet been revealed but for the launch of Assassin’s Creed: Mirage on the Valve platform, a 50% discount has been prepared. We may also see a smaller or larger discount this time.
