Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was finally released on PC after a long time. Thousands of players decided to enter this magical world (via SteamDB). While some of them have issues with access to their Deluxe digital bonuses, others have much worse problems. Many Final Fantasy fans can’t access the game due to ‘DX12 is not supported on your system’ error message. What does it mean? We will tell you.

FF7 Rebirth DX12 error explained

If you are one of the people who encounter DX12 error, you are out of luck. What does it mean? In some cases, if we do not fit into the minimal PC requirements, we can still hope to play the game but with less FPS or some various other problems. It appears that it is not the case with FF7 Rebirth. It looks like Remake requires DirectX 12_2.

It means that even if your graphics card supports DirectX 12, you still might have its wrong version. So, in the case of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the minimal requirements listed on the Steam page are really minimal. You can’t run the game below them.

List of supported graphics cards (minimal requirements):

  1. AMD Radeon RX 6600 (RX 6600 or above required)
  2. Intel Arc A580
  3. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (RTX series required)

So, the ‘DX12 is not supported on your system’ error is not a mistake. It informs, in a clumsy way, though, that your hardware either doesn’t support DX12 or supports its older version. Sadly, there is nothing you can do about that.
