FF7 Rebirth with crashes, fatal error and stutters. Performance issues are reported by players
Some people are encountering performance issues in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Stutters, FPS drops and crashes are preventing them from fully enjoying the game.
PC players had to wait nearly a year after Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launched on PlayStation 5, but now they can finally continue the adventure they began in Final Fantasy VII Remake – that is, for those who aren't facing performance issues like crashes and stutters.
Stutters, lags, and crashes in FF7 Rebirth
Many FF7 Rebirth players face frequent stuttering, crashes, or even issues with the game failing to start. If you're facing these problems, the first step is to check if your PC meets the minimum system requirements. If they aren't met, the game may struggle to launch properly.
It's always a good idea to try common solutions, such as verifying your game files and ensuring your graphics drivers are up to date. Additionally, third-party overlays can sometimes cause issues, so consider disabling them.
The next step is to adjust your graphic settings and resolution. Start with medium quality and check how the game performs. If it’s still lagging, try capping the frame rate to 60 FPS or even 40 FPS. The stuttering isn’t due to shader compilation running in the background – that process is completed when you first launch the game. Instead, it’s an issue related to VRAM and how it's managed.
Porting a console title to PC is often a challenging task, as was the case with God of War Ragnarok. However, if your PC isn’t too outdated and your graphics card supports DirectX 12, FF7 Rebirth should be playable on your trusty machine.
