Star Wars Outlaws: Can you use other weapons? Star Wars Outlaws guide, tips

Can you use a lightsaber in Star Wars Outlaws? In our guide you will learn about mods and upgrading the blaster, other varieties of firearms and the use of grenades.

Last update: 19 September 2024

Does Star Wars Outlaws have more than one firearm and are there lightsabers? On this page of the guide, we describe Kay's weapon's operating modes and its upgrades. We also explain the ramifications of picking up other weapons(shotguns, sniper rifles, etc.) and relying on grenades in combat.

Blaster and its upgrades

  1. Kay's main weapon is a blaster. You can use it from the very beginning of the game. This weapon does not consume ammo, but an overheated blaster does need to cool down (you can speed this up by pressing R1/RB at the perfect moment - similar to the Gears of War games).
  2. You can upgrade your blaster's performance throughout the game. First of all, it can gain new modules that will change the way it works. For example, instead of standard projectiles, it'll fire exploding ones or ones that destroy energy shields and enemy robots faster.
  3. Within a given module, there are different firing modes available and more will be unlocked as you progress through the game. Additionally, you can purchase individual blaster upgrades to, for example, increase the weapon's striking power or improve the weapon's cooldown. In addition to credits, you need more or less common materials. You can buy rare ingredients from traders or find them in the game world (the game may also add minor quests related to them to your journal).

We recommend upgrading the most frequently used modules and firing modes. This will allow you to defeat enemies faster and reduce the risk of death during combat.

Other firearms in the game

You can find other weapons in the game world - they can be found in armories or can be dropped by defeated enemies. You can pick up the weapons yourself or send Nix to pick them up (command to bring an item). The second option will allow you to stay hidden behind a cover because Nix will not alert enemies.

  1. New weapons include futuristic variants of sniper rifles, shotguns or assault rifles.
  2. The most important limitation is that you unfortunately cannot permanently add other weapons to your inventory. Their use is only temporary. A found weapon will be abandoned once the entire magazine is depleted, if you get on a speeder bike, start climbing or engage in other similar activities. Treat additional weapons as short-term help only.

Are there lightsabers?

  1. Unfortunately, Star Wars Outlaws doesn't feature lightsabers. Kay can't use lightsabers and this is partly due to the fact that the heroine does not have any Jedi powers.
  2. The game also does not feature fights with characters using lightsabers. Typical confrontations involve monsters or enemies equipped with different types of firearms.

Can I Try That? skill

  1. Later in the game you can unlock the Mercenary expert - Rooster, whom you will meet in the cantina in Kijimi City. You must complete the associated expert quest first.
  1. Once you unlock the expert, you will gain access to his skills and the first one is Can I Try That?. Obtaining it will allow you to use the so-called High Tier Imperial Weaponry.
  2. Elite weapons dropped by enemies or found as loot will become available to Kay (e.g. more powerful blasters, miniguns). Unfortunately, this skill won't allow you to keep collected weapons permanently.

Grenades

  1. Grenades are treated slightly differently - you can find them as loot or buy them in stores that offer consumable items. You can move these items around in your inventory and select them at any time (menu under the left arrow on the D-pad) to plan your throw.
  2. You can also increase the limit of grenades you can carry thanks to some unique clothing items will allow you to do so.
