Star Wars Outlaws doesn't have many boss fights - one of them is the rancor, an iconic monster from the original film trilogy. You'll face him on Tatooine towards the end of the main mission Partners, during which you'll have to infiltrate Jabba's palace to free Nix. On this page of the guide we have described how to defeat the creature and provoke it into destroying the hangar door.
How to fight the rancor?
Fighting the rancor is not complicated, but this does not mean that the monster is an easy opponent. The boss deals massive damage and is capable of killing you with one good hit. He is also immediately aware of your presence, so there is no point in hiding - sprint away from him and dodge his claws.
The beast is completely invulnerable to attacks. To defeat the boss, you must work together with Vail. The bounty hunter is on the upper floor of the hangar, operating a rail on which explosive barrels ride near the ceiling. You must detonate one of these barrels with a well-aimed shot while it is above the rancor. Lure the rancor to the wall with the barrels rolling next to it, and shoot the barrel when the beast is close.
Getting hit by the explosion will provoke the rancor into a charge - you will recognize this by the red indicator above its head. You need to stand in front of the huge steel gate at the end of the room, then run away from it to provoke the rancor into hitting the gate. Rancor takes a long time to prepare for the charge and cannot change direction while charging, so the attack is easy to avoid. You must repeat this cycle three times to win - blowing up the barrel above the monster, provoking it to hit the gate.
There will be a complication during the fight - after the first impact the rail will get stuck. You'll need to wait until Vail unlocks it and starts sending barrels again, in the meantime taking out any enemies that enter the hangar. You can shoot them or bring the rancor to them.
After the second hit the rails will turn off - you must send Nix to pull the lever that will reset the system. The lever is high on the wall near the iron gate.
After the third hit, the rancor will lose consciousness. This will end the fight and the quest.
