Digital piracy has been with us since the dawn of computers, and the popularization of the Internet only increased this practice and made it a whole lot easier. We are in a state of never-ending battle between developers and cracker groups. In recent years, the most popular tool to secure games is DRM in the form of Denuvo. No matter how much we hate this controversial system, it is here to stay as it proved to work. Of course, the biggest studios and most anticipated titles, like the soon-to-be released Star Wars: Outlaws, are expected to incorporate some form of protection. Will Denuvo be employed to guard the latest Star Wars production? Let’s find out how the situation looks like.

Will Star Wars Outlaws feature Denuvo?

Let’s be honest, what are the chances that Star Wars Outlaws won’t be secured by Denuvo? Close to zero. We are talking about the game created by Ubisoft that is using one of the world’s most popular franchises. However, it must be said that currently there is no official information about this anti-tamper system being implemented in this production.

We shouldn’t get our hopes high though, as that wouldn’t be the first time Ubisoft doesn’t inform about implementation of Denuvo and then adds it later on, like it was in the case of Assassin’s Creed Mirage where it was included in day-one patch. Also, there are a lot of Ubisoft’s titles that feature this DRM – Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to name a few. This lets us speculate with more certainty that Outlaws will also be secured by this anti-tamper software.

That fact can be extra unsettling, as it is believed by many that Denuvo negatively impacts performance and Star Wars Outlaws has very high system requirements to begin with. Those, however, seems to be not justified if we look at one of the recent gameplays, where this production still looked unfinished and not very flashy.

Will DRM ever be removed from SW Outlaws?

The matter of Denuvo being eventually removed from SW Outlaws is not as sure as it being implemented in the first place. We have seen such move done by many developers in the past, yet we have written more about it while speculating on this exact scenario happening with Black Myth: Wukong. The difference is, though, that Outlaws is released by Ubisoft, which did not remove Denuvo from old AC Valhalla. Due to that it is probably safe to say that if Denuvo will be used in this title, it won’t be ever removed.

Moreover, Ubisoft adds Season Pass to this fully singleplayer title, while also teasing players with 3 days Early Access to this production. Of course, all of this is available only by paying $40 extra for preorder to this already $70 game. It is also worth mentioning that internet access is required to install the game even if you decide to buy a physical copy.
