On this page of the guide to Horizon 2 Forbidden West you'll learn how to change the current time of day to make day or night come faster. We also explain when does the game unlock a full 24-hour cycle.
Full day and night cycle - how to unlock?
Horizon Forbidden West features a 24-hour day cycle which lets the time of day change seamlessly, although the beginning of the game may tell you otherwise. This is because the entire introduction to the campaign happens during the day. This applies to the prologue quests and your first visit to The Daunt region.
After completing The Embassy main quest, you unlock full access to the entire world map, along with the day and night cycle. Obviously, time in Horizon 2 flows much quicker than in real life, which means it won't be long before you experience your first in-game night.
Choosing the time of day
The time of day doesn't impact the gameplay of Horizon Forbidden West too much, as night doesn't make stealth any easier and doesn't limit your vision too much. Nevertheless, sometimes you may want to change the time of day by using the time acceleration option.
In order to do so you must visit a Shelter - you discover them while traversing the game world.
After reaching a shelter ignore the campfire and interact with the stool Aloy can sit on. Press X to enter the time change menu.
The game will allow you to choose the time of day - you can choose between the morning, afternoon, evening and night. Accelerating time is free and can be used limitlessly.
