On this page of the Horizon Forbidden West guide, you will find information about the Sunken Caverns. You'll learn how to reach them, what you can find in them and how to complete them.
Diving mask
You can enter the sunken caverns from the very beginning on the game, but you can't complete them without a special gadget. You need a diving mask obtainable during The Sea of Sands main quest - we've described the gadget in more detail on a separate page of the guide.
The mask allows you to stay underwater for as long as you want. It also doesn't have to be activated manually. Aloy automatically uses the mask when underwater.
This lets you dive as deep as you wish without any limits. Using the mask also lets you move underwater similarly to how you move on the surface, which means you can use your spear to open passages. This is not possible without the mask.
Exploration
There are many resources to be found in the sunken caverns. The one that should interest you the most is Greenshine. It's a special resource required for weapon upgrades in the late-game. "Completing" a location means obtaining all the resources (Greenshine) available in the area.
Using the Focus should make your job much easier (R3 on the PlayStation). It will show you all the resources obtainable nearby.
Once you gather all of them, a message will appear, telling you that you've completed the location.
There are several areas such as this one on the map. They're marked with a special icon resembling waves, as pictured above.
