On this page of the Horizon Forbidden West guide, we explain the potential problem of paused missions (Mission On Hold). You'll learn when you may receive log notifications about missions on hold and what to do to resume suspended quests.
As you progress through the game, it may happen that some quests from your log will be put on hold some journal quest. This message may appear while you are completing a task - you just won't get the next mission objective.
For more information, you'll need to go to the log and highlight the paused quest. As shown in the image above, the side quest The Bristlebacks may be put on hold until you get out of the starting region, The Daunt, i.e. until you complete The Embassy main quest. Only then will the next mission objective appear. You don't have to worry about the quest being cancelled. Simply return to it once you advance to a required point in the main storyline.
In the later part of the campaign, all quests that you have started may be put on hold; the image above shows an example of such a situation. In this case, they are blocked "artificially" and it results from the main storyline events. First, you need to deal with the high-priority main quest that you can't postpone. Things will return to normal only after completing the only available main quest. Once you do that, all quests in the log will become available again.
