- 12500 XP
- 3 skill points
Location
You'll find this cauldron underwater, just over the mountains in the northern part of The Stand of the Sentinels region. It can be found in the eastern part of the map.
To reach it, you need a special diving mask, which can be obtained during The Sea of Sands main quest.
Walkthrough
You can enter the cauldron by diving at the entrance. There is an underwater passage which you can use to easily get into the cauldron.
While underwater, you need to find a school of fish. They are circling the tunnel that you can use to enter the location. To proceed, you need to override the mechanism that will open the passageway.
Continue swimming forward and follow the streaks of light that will show you the way.
Once out of the water, you will immediately see the glowing platform you need. First, move it to the spot from the screenshot above, under the glowing yellow pipe that Aloy can climb on. This one unfortunately breaks off when the girl jumps to it.
Instead, you have to put the platform in the water. Jump on it and let the current carry you to the next yellow element. Climb upwards to continue exploring the cauldron.
Next, you will need to jump into the arena, which might contain opponents. However, you don't have to fight them if you don't feel like it. Turn left and reach the column that you need to climb up. This element will sometimes move and you might need to wait for it to rise up again.
While at the top of the column, you will notice a red element used to override the mechanisms. Use it to open up the way forward.
You will see the arena you need to reach. However, it's not the right time yet. Your goal is to jump down and head to the next climbing element. This one will lead you to the correct part of the location.
The yellow highlighted elements will allow you to climb effectively and efficiently. You just need to move steadily to the right until you reach a stable platform.
At the top, you will notice a red mechanism to override. It will get you to the next part of the location.
Once you've taken over the mechanism, it's time to enter another area, this time to get the platform you need.
Take out the platform with the grappling hook, move it against the wall and use it to access the higher level.
This red mechanism affects the height of the water level throughout the facility. Once you start it, you have to place the platform in the right spot to allow you to continue on.
Then dive in and find another mechanism that affects the water level. You need this one, too.
Then return to the platform. Your goal is to place it in the same exact spot as in the screenshot above. This is the only way to make further progress.
Change the water level again and get higher up. This way, you will reach the next part of the cauldron.
On this floor, you will see another platform that you need. Take it out with the grappling hook and move it towards the next yellow climbing element.
Note the yellow elements. Your task is to get to the overhanging part of the ledge and then jump onto the flying machine.
The flight will take a while, but it won't be dangerous. Just don't make any unnecessary movements. Only jump down when you spot the stable platform under your feet.
At the very end of this tunnel, you will see another mechanism to override. This one will open your path to the flooded part of the cauldron.
You will reach the location where the cauldron's boss is swimming. You can't fight it in the water. Swim as fast as possible to the left, dive and open another passage.
You're almost done now. Just take over the last point to drain the cauldron. Afterwards, head to the arena for a boss fight.
The boss is the Tideripper, who you have already had the opportunity to meet during the story quests. To find out how to fight it, check out a separate page of our guide.
Ultimately, you only need to override the core to complete this location. As a reward, you will receive 12500 XP and 3 skill points.
