Finding work

You can find job by clicking on the phone and selecting Find a job or by selecting the same option while using the computer - Work | The Sim Environment - The Sim Environment - Sims 4 Guide

You can find job by clicking on the phone and selecting "Find a job" or by selecting the same option while using the computer.

In the pop-up, on the left, you can see the list of the available careers - Work | The Sim Environment - The Sim Environment - Sims 4 Guide

In the pop-up, on the left, you can see the list of the available careers. After you click any, you receive information about that job: the position that you would by working in, hour's pay and workdays (it has been described in the next chapter which career is more profitable). There are two branches to each one of the careers. In each, you can reach, at best, the 10th level. When the time comes, the Sim goes to work automatically - he disappears from your sight, from the plot, and he returns after he has finished working.

Caring about the job

When you start a job, you need to care about it and strive for a promotion - Work | The Sim Environment - The Sim Environment - Sims 4 Guide

When you start a job, you need to care about it and strive for a promotion. To get promoted, you need to go to work every day, well-prepared and with all the needs of the Sim satisfied - this makes the Sim's work assessment rise. You can view this assessment in the Sim's career panel ([J]) on the bar. This panel informs you of the currently occupied position, earnings per hour, working days and working hours.

Another issue, when it comes to getting promoted, are the requirements that you need to meet - Work | The Sim Environment - The Sim Environment - Sims 4 Guide

Another issue, when it comes to getting promoted, are the requirements that you need to meet. They depend on the career that you have chosen and on the currently occupied position. They are displayed below work assessment. Most usually, to get promoted, you need to learn a given skill at the required level. However, there also are other conditions concerned with performing an activity several times, interacting with another Sim several times, etc. Once you are promoted, you receive special note that informs you of the positions that you were promoted to, what the raise is, a onetime bonus (or gifts), on which weekdays you are going to work and what are the working hours.

A very important element is to get prepared for work every day - Work | The Sim Environment - The Sim Environment - Sims 4 Guide

A very important element is to get prepared for work every day. This concerns two issues: performing certain activities and going to work in the appropriate mood. You can learn information about that after you roll your mouse over the bar that presents work assessment. Make sure that, to the extent this is possible, you perform certain activities determined by your career. In the case of, e.g. the astronaut, this means doing exercises every day, on any training machine and, in the case of the cook's profession, preparing dishes. Also, pay attention to the preferred mood - you can get into that mood by, e.g. taking a shower, playing chess, etc.

When the Sim is at work, you cannot control him directly, but you can influence his behavior - Work | The Sim Environment - The Sim Environment - Sims 4 Guide

When the Sim is at work, you cannot control him directly, but you can influence his behavior. You only need to click the icon above the Sim's head, on the bottom panel, to access the menu of the available behaviors (the availability of these depend on the character and current mood). Choosing "Work Hard" improves work assessment, but may lead to stress. "Make new contacts" satisfies the social need, but lowers work assessment. "Chill out" satisfies the need for playing, but lowers work assessment. There also is leaving work early, available, which also has a negative effect on work assessment and earnings. If the Sim is cheerful, you can try working hard, thanks to which works assessment goes up. However, if you see the Sim is stressed out, let it go and let him chill - there is no need for him to return home tensed.

The Sim may experience unique situations at work - Work | The Sim Environment - The Sim Environment - Sims 4 Guide

The Sim may experience unique situations at work. This is where you step in and make a choice, basing on the story that you learn. It is difficult to tell what choice should be made. The obvious ones, which you expect to improve on the Sim's mood often turn out to be the wrong ones. Such choices, usually, have a positive, or negative effect on work assessment.

For successive promotions, apart from a financial bonus, and a raise, you can also be rewarded with items or appliances - Work | The Sim Environment - The Sim Environment - Sims 4 Guide

For successive promotions, apart from a financial bonus, and a raise, you can also be rewarded with items or appliances. They always appear in the family's equipment, in the building/decoration mode. Watch out for information on rewards that appear in the promotion notification window.
