The Sims 4: General tips Sims 4 Guide, tips
Last update: 30 March 2022
Building a house is not an easy task. Because of that, one of the chapters in our The Sims 4 guide was dedicated to building a dream home. This page will tell you what to do at the beginning of the game. This is the most difficult stage of the game, so follow our tips and tricks - this will allow you to avoid spending all the money you start with.
Initially, you have limited funds, so you cannot afford much. Even if you have millions at your disposal, remember not to make your house too big. The main rooms, like bathroom, kitchen, or the bedroom should be close to the front door. This is about not wasting your Sim's time on walking around the house. The same is true for building another floor - walking up and down the stairs takes a lot of time.
Here is a handful of hints:
- Design rooms for functionality first, esthetics later.
- At the beginning, save on materials and buy the cheapest items.
- Buy a good bed, shower tub, and toilet as soon as possible - this will save you a lot of time.
- As you expand your house, keep in mind that the key rooms are the kitchen and the bathroom.
- Do not expand your house too much - a big house = a lot of time wasted on walking.
- Build your house near the edges of your lot, close to the road.
- Extra floors should rather be regarded as stock spaces, not holding rooms.
