How to unlock sailing
You will unlock sailing after completing the main storyline in East Lutherra. This is central to the further gameplay and subsequent stages of exploration.
Until you unlock level 50, most activities at sea - such as side quests on islands - will be blocked.
Harbor - ship repair and customization
In the ports at the main continents you can repair your ship (you need silver to do so), recruit crew members, who allow you to upgrade your ship, improve it and change its appearance.
Navigation and auto-route
You can maneuver the ship manually or using the Auto-Route function. After opening the map by clicking Alt LPM you can set the target directly or through 4 markers (e.g. to avoid dangerous waters). You can deactivate Auto-Route by clicking T. Using the Space bar temporarily increases the speed of the ship.
- By using the search bar at the top of the map, you can find any island within the game world.
- Sailing reduces the ship's durability - and therefore increases its subsequent repair fee.
- Avoid waters marked with a different color - in such areas your ship loses durability faster and you can even destroy it.
- Later the game, you will be able to fish treasures out of the water.
- Treasure maps are also available on the seas, but you'll find these later in the game too.
- If you use teleportation to other areas (Song of Return / Bifrost), the ship will be available in the area you moved to.
- Upgrading your ship and hiring the right crew members increases your ship's durability and allows you to travel longer and through more dangerous areas.
Islands
You can check out each explored island:
- On some you can get the Island Token - one of the secrets that come with interesting rewards. To get them, you usually only need to complete the quests available on the island.
- Some islands are not available at all times, but only at select times of the day.
- Rec. Item Level indicates the suggested level of equipment, which is the only real indication of a character's strength after level 50. You can check your gear level in the character panel (P).
There are nearly 100 different islands available in the game, and they all count towards the end-game stage. Don't try to explore all at once.
Marinas - conducting repairs on the open sea
The points marked with a tent icon - Marinas - let you repair your ship without stopping at a harbor. You must pay 150 Pirate Coins to access them and additional silver for the repairs. This is often required to traverse the dangerous waves.
