Lost Ark is a PvE MMORPG game (Player versus environment). In these types of games, players gang up to overcome various difficulties and defeat bosses together. It's no different in Lost Ark. Despite this fact, the game still gives you the possibility to complete the campaign on your own.

PvP (Player versus player) is an optional activity.

You can play Lost Ark solo. You don't have to interact with other players, although in many cases this is very beneficial. In addition, you will encounter many Co-op missions - these don't require either interacting with the players or communicating with them, nor do they require forming any team (Party).

Abyssal Dungeons require full cooperation between players.

However, interacting with other players is required/recommended in two cases:

1. Guilds - belonging to a guild does not put many obligations upon you, but many guilds require that you make regular donations to the guild so that it can expand. Belonging to a guild will allow you to advance to higher Tiers faster by being able to purchase Honing materials with the currency you receive in the guild.
2. Abyssal Dungeons - this is one of the activities allowing you to earn special stones, which you can use to purchase equipment unique for your Tier. Apart from that, you can earn a lot of gold and receive other interesting rewards. These tasks can be completed on a weekly basis. They require the players to cooperate, communicate well with each other as well as know the ins and outs of mechanics of the particular dungeon before actually proceeding to the event.

To sum up, the game allows and encourages cooperation, but it is entirely optional. Playing with friends will be faster and other players will be happy to help out the beginners.
