What is the Rapport system?

Lost Ark has a romance and relationship system called Rapport. There are many characters on different continents that you can build relationships with and increase your progress. They are located in cities/settlements and marked with heart icons. Relationships will be unlocked at the end of the main storyline in Longhill. You will meet other people as you progress in the main storyline.

Here, you will learn all about the current and future relationships, as well as your progress.

Use the Ctrl N shortcut to open the Rapport panel. Here you can view all the unlocked (and unlockable) characters you can improve relationships with. Here, you can also:

1. Claim your rewards,
2. Review the available rewards list to determine who you want to focus on first,
3. Check the current progress without visiting an NPC (just hover over the character level at the bottom of the window),
4. Check out the Preferred Gifts.

By hovering over the trust level you will find out how many points you need to level up the relationship.

Why increase Rapport?

The purpose of the rapport system is to get rewards. For each relationship level (which you'll see on a progress bar at the top of the screen during intreactions), you will receive a specific reward. Often it's an Ancient Silver Coin, which you can trade in your inventory for 1000 silver.

Relationship rewards are a good way to get silver, as long as you don't spend money on relationship items.

Additionally, "maxing out" the relationship is required to complete the Adventurer's Tome. Some NPCs offer rare or unique rewards for increasing the level, which then allow you to make more progress (e.g. ingredients for special dishes). Once you have maxed out a relationship, you have no further opportunities to interact with the given NPC, and it is the end of their storyline.

How to increase Rapport?

You can improve your relationship every day for free: by interacting with the NPC in question. Once you start the interaction, you will see the available features in the bottom left corner of the screen. The primary ones are:

1. Emote,
2. Songs,
3. Gifts,
4. NPC quests - on specific relationship levels, some people will give you side quests. Doing them not only increases the relationship level but often blocks progress until they are completed. Sometimes these quests can also improve the relationship with another NPC.

Sometimes when you receive a quest from an NPC, the relationship will be blocked until you finish it.

Both Songs and Emotes must be unlocked with story progress, side quests, and rewards for other activities (e.g. progress in collecting secrets or expanding the Adventurer's Tome). They each add a set amount of points to the relationship, but each of these activities also has a daily limit on how many times you can do them. Gifts also improve the relationship and are limited to 99 pieces. They are described in detail below.

Gifts

Gifts, on the other hand, are rare items with a heart icon. The most common ones raise the rapport by 300 points, the most expensive - even by 10-20 thousand. Each NPC has a visible list of their favorite items (see the Preferred Gifts tab). Some can increase the relationship a little bit more - often by 30-60 points. You can get gifts during main / side missions, but they are very rare. They are also available in the in-game store.

Another way to get these items is through Wandering Merchants - traders who appear in specific locations at specific times. They are very expensive, though - a typical lower-level item (one that offers a 300-point relationship increase) costs 10,000 silver. Furthermore, only one piece is available at a given merchant.

Another way is to visit Nada - a merchant in Lutherra Castle. She will allow you to trade the Providence Stone - a special "currency" that you receive for completing quests. These are small amounts at first, but by the fourth continent you'll be getting even several hundred "hearts".

In the Currency panel, you can see the current amount of Providence Stone in the Token Items tab.

For 2,500 Providence Stone, you can choose one of the chests which will give you a random prize. They are divided into continents - by improving your relationship with an NPC from a selected continent you can receive a small bonus for giving them a gift.
