One of the biggest challenges when growing trees in Farming Simulator 25 can be transporting them from one place to another. On this guide page we have described how to move trees with the use of winches.
Transporting trees
Transporting felled trees requires two items: a crane and a log trailer. Using the crane, you can lift a tree log and place it on the dedicated trailer. You have a wide range of tools to choose from. You can use an excavator crane or you can use a header for a front loader. For a small fee, you can equip some tree log trailers with a crane. You can also choose one of the available forwarders. They are expensive and slow, but also self-propelled and immediately equipped with a crane and trailer, combining all functions into one device.
You can also use a chainsaw to cut a tree into smaller logs. This will allow you to load a log even if it's too big, as well as cut it into pieces small enough for you to lift them by yourself. This will be especially useful if you plan to process the tree into wood chips in a chipper.
Winches
The devices used to transport trees are quite large, which may prove problematic in forests where there is not much room to maneuver. To do this, you can pull the logs to a more open area using a winch. Attach the winch to the back of your tractor. After that, you'll need to get out of the vehicle, grab the winch cable and attach it to the tree. Return to the vehicle; now you'll be able to either shorten and lengthen the rope, which will allow you to drag the log to a more convenient place. Your tractor must have enough power to be able to lift the tree.
Skidding winches
Skidding winches work in a similar fashion, but they come in handy in a more niche situation: you can use them when you need to pull a tree uphill. To do this, you need to park and set up the winch at the top of a hill, on a flat surface (connect it to the most powerful tractor you have). Go to the back of the winch and grab the rope, which you will need to attach to the tree at the bottom of the hill. This will create a zip line, which you can now use to pull tree logs to the top.
