In Farming Simulator 25 you can breed and take care of horses. On this page, you will find out where to breed horses and what to feed them. You will also learn how to take care of them. Horses, together with cows, are the most time-consuming animals in the entire game. Just feeding them the right food is not enough. They are not part of the "collective consciousness" so you also have to take care of each horse individually. Additionally, they do not produce fertilizer, which is used for fertilizing fields.

Types of horses

Several breeds of horses are available. However, they all have the same parameters and differ only in appearance. As a result, you can choose the ones that aesthetically appeal to you the most. One horse will cost you 500 euros.

However, you must remember that if you want to transport animals on your own, you will need a special trailer which is unique to this species.

How to feed horses?

Horses consume three types of food:

  1. Wheat (oats or sorghum) - efficiency: 57%;
  2. Hay - efficiency: 38%;
  3. Root plants - 5% efficiency.

You can use both types of wheat interchangeably. Adding hay and root plants to one of them will give you 100% efficiency. It's crucial to keep in mind that efficiency mainly affects the speed at which animals recover their health indicator. As a result, if your animals are in good condition, you don't need to use all three types of food.

Maintaining a horse

In order for the horse to be healthy and for its value to increase, you must take care of the animal on a regular basis. As already mentioned, each horse has its own parameters and you need to take care of them individually. The more horses you have, the more effort it will entail to maintain them.

First of all, you need to take care of their physical health. To fill this indicator, regular rides are required (preferably daily). To do this, you need to open the farm house, then approach the chosen horse and mount it using the interaction button (you don't need to buy a saddle). After that, you can leave and travel around the area until the indicator fills up to 100%. One day of riding can provide 25% progress.

How to clean a horse?

Regardless of whether the horse is standing in the farm house or if you are currently riding it, the animal gets dirty (although in the second scenario it happens noticeably faster). This is indicated by the Cleanliness stat. Hence, after training, you have to clean the animal. For this purpose, you need to use a brush that you will buy in the store in the hand tools section. To clean the horse, you need to change the tool in your hand, approach the animal and click on it until the indicator is full.

How to breed horses?

Horses reproduce very slowly. They reach sexual maturity at the age of 22 months. Their pregnancy lasts another 11 months. Additionally, as already mentioned, you always buy individuals aged 0 months. This makes them the animals that need the most time to increase their population.

Is it profitable to breed horses?

Horses are demanding animals, which are worth investing in only when you have stable income from other sources. If you take regular care of your horse, it will reach its maximum value at the age of 36 months. It is slightly longer than the entire breeding cycle of the animal.

You can notice a certain cycle here: your horses grow up, reproduce and after reaching a specific age, they are sold. By doing so, you are making room for future foals.
