Farming Simulator 25: How to plant trees?
Forestry is one of the main activities in Farming Simulator 25. On this page of our guide, you will learn what you need to grow trees.

In Farming Simulator 25 you will also have the opportunity to grow trees. Their cultivation differs slightly from regular plants: the cultivation process itself is very simple, although quite costly. On this guide page we explain what you will need to grow trees.
Types of trees
There are 12 types of trees in the game. Tress are divided into coniferous and deciduous ones, differing in the end product they are best suited for: coniferous trees are suitable for timber and deciduous - for wood chips. Trees also differ in terms of their harvesting method: a tree harvester or a chainsaw. The trees appearing in the game are the following:
- Spruce and pine: coniferous trees, suitable for timber. They differ from other coniferous trees in that they are best harvested with a harvester.
- Conifers: suitable for timber. It's best to fell them with a chainsaw.
- Deciduous trees: suitable for wood chips. It's best to fell them with a chainsaw.
What do I need to grow trees?
Tree cultivation consists of just a few steps. You don't need a field, you don't have to cultivate, plow or fertilize the saplings: you can plant them anywhere and then wait for the tree to grow, which takes more than a year.
- Tree planter and tree saplings: when planting trees, you can choose between two planters. You can attach the cheaper option, PL-75, to the tractor. It can hold 20 saplings at a time and automatically spaces the trees, providing them with enough space, so it's a better option when you're just starting your career as a forester. The more expensive option, SKB-240, can hold 240 saplings at once, but the trees must be planted manually. You also need to attach it to an excavator equipped with a quick coupler instead of to the tractor. Hence, this option is suitable for more experienced foresters.
- Chainsaw or tree harvester: once a tree has grown, you can cut it down. Depending on the type of tree, you can do this with a chainsaw (after purchasing it, equip it with buttons 1 or 2) or a harvester, attached to the front of the tractor or a self-propelled one. Make sure you cut the tree low. After cutting down the tree with a saw (you can set the cutting angle with the mouse), you will also need to trim the branches. Self-propelled harvesters are expensive, but they give you a lot of control over the arm equipped with saws, so you can very easily cut down a tree, get rid of branches and cut them into smaller tree logs.
- Tree mulcher: after cutting down the trees, you need to get rid of the stumps left behind. To do this, you need a dedicated mulcher that can be attached to a tractor. Drive the mulcher into the stump to get rid of it.
- Transport vehicle and crane: to transport tree logs, you will need one of the dedicated vehicles or trailers. You can load the tree logs with any crane: you can use an excavator with an attached crane, a front loader with an appropriate attachment or a more expensive transport vehicle already equipped with a crane.
- Wood chipper and trailer (optional): if you want to process the collected tree logs into wood chips, you will need to purchase a chipper. In the basic version of the game, two options are available: a cheaper one (connected to a tractor) and a more expensive one (self-propelled, equipped with a crane). After starting the wood chipper, place the trailer under the pipe and start placing pieces of wood on the conveyor belt. The trailer will start catching wood chips. You can move pieces of wood with a crane or, if they are small enough, by hand.
Selling
Trees do not grow according to a periodic calendar, so you can plant them in any month. The best time to sell wood chips is in January; at that time, they are worth as much as 1,600 euros per tonne, more than three times more than in the warmer months. Timber prices are largely stable and do not fluctuate much from month to month: you will sell it for around 3,000 euros per tonne. If you become wealthy enough to buy a sawmill yourself, you can process wood there into much more valuable items, such as planks, beams and furniture.
