Controller Issues in Farming Simulator 25 (FS25) Explained

The history of Farming Simulators created by Giants Software goes a long way back to 2008. After three years break from main platforms (not counting the special edition of FS19 in 2022), the developers come back with FS25, yet it seems like they could have used more time, as the production is all but free of bugs. We have seen crashes on launch or stutters and flickering, but also unintuitive way of changing languages. Adding to those problems, many players report issues with how controllers work in this title. Let’s try to dive deeper then and figure out what’s going on.
Controller problems in FS25 explained
It looks like PC players are no stranger to the convenience of game controllers. With how easy it is nowadays to connect gamepads to computers; they are very often used in a variety of titles. Farming Simulator 25 is a game that aims to foster the feeling of an idyllic farm, where you can tend your crops and animals. Using a pad allows you to relax, pull back on your chair… only to learn that the controller doesn’t really work. What gives then?
With how many different devices there are, root cause might be different for various players. Below you will find the most common problems that plague fans and some fixes that can help you get up and running:
- On the Steam page of the title, we can see that FS25 supports Xbox Controllers and even DualShock. Yet bear in mind that DualSense (PS5 gamepad) is not officially supported. Moreover, if you use the PS4 one, it must be connected via a cable!
- Make sure that the controller that you would like to use is the only one connected to your PC. If you have a wheel, unplug it from your computer. With no gamepads connected, restart the game, and then use the desired one.
- In the Steam options (right click on FS25 in Steam library > properties > controller settings), disable / enable Steam Input depending on your current setting.
- If you have issues with zooming in or out camera while in a vehicle, it doesn’t work when you accelerate / decelerate in manual transmission machines. To zoom in / out use up and down on the D-pad, while no other buttons are pressed.
Hopefully, now you will be able to utilize your device to the fullest. While there still might be some issues with navigating the menus, you should be able to play comfortably. We can expect some future patches to address the most common problems. Have fun!
