Grapes and olives are quite unusual plants in Farming Simulator 25. They do not require seeds or saplings - instead, you have to build structures in the field where they can grow. On this page of the guide we describe how to grow grapes and olives and what you will need to do that.

What do I need to grow grapes and olives?

Grapes and olives are highly specialized crops that require many dedicated devices, which can only be used for these plants specifically. They are:

  1. Grape poles or olive trees - grapes and olives won't grow in regular fields. In order to cultivate them, you need to build a row of grape poles or olive trees. You will find both of these structures in the building menu, in the production submenu and the cultivation tab. You'll need neither seeds nor saplings. Poles and trees need to be built only once; they will not disappear after successful grape and olive harvests. The plants will simply grow back. It's also worth mentioning that you don't need to build them on fields, so plots without fields are perfectly suitable for these crops as well.
  2. Small tractor - grapes and olives are grown in rows, which requires frequent driving between them. So equip yourself with a small, narrow tractor that can fit between your crops.
  3. Mercury 4000L spreader and liquid fertilizer (optional) - to maximize yields, you need to fertilize twice. In the case of grapes and olives, there is only one option that will fit between the rows: the dedicated Mercury 4000L spreader, which you can find in the store, in the grape tools section. It can only be filled with liquid fertilizer. You can perform the first fertilization right after setting up the poles or trees, and the second one after mulching and cultivation.
  4. TPN 140 mulcher - after placing the posts or trees, you'll have to wait at least a month. Once grass grows between the rows, you will need to mulch. The only suitable mulcher in the basic version of the game is the TPN 140: it is the only one narrow enough to fit between the rows. You will find it in the store, in the grape tools section.
  5. Disc-O-Vigne V cultivator - once mulching is complete, the next step is cultivation. There is only one machine narrow enough to fit between the rows as well: the Disc-O-Vigne V cultivator. You can also find it in the store, in the grape tools section.
  6. Grape or olive harvester - you will need a specialized harvester. A grape harvester can only harvest grapes and an olive harvester can only harvest olives. In the store, there is a harvester that seems to be compatible with both crops, but when purchasing it, you will have to choose whether to adapt it for grapes or for olives. All machines can be found in the store, in the sections for grape and olive harvesters. Unlike previous machines, after setting up the harvester and starting it, you'll have to drive over the rows, not between them.
  7. Universal or grape trailer - to unload the harvested crops, you need to place a trailer at the back of the harvester. It's worth mentioning here that grapes can only be unloaded onto a dedicated, metal grape trailer. You will find it in the grape trailers tab. Olives can be unloaded onto any trailer.
  8. MP 122 OCEA pruner (grapes only) - approximately one month after a successful harvest, the leaves on your grape vines will turn yellow. You need to get rid of the dried leaves so the grapes can start growing again. The only device available in the basic version of the game that can do this is the MP 122 OCEA, which you will find in the grape tools section. Unlike other tools, the pruner cuts leaves only on one side, so a single round of pruning won't cover everything. Once you get rid of the leaves, the grapes will start growing again. Olives don't need to be pruned.

Periodic calendar and sales

If you are playing with the periodic calendar turned on, grapes can be planted from March to May and harvested in September and October. Olives can be planted from March to June and harvested only in October. Both crops share a similar price: around 2,150 euros per tonne, but grapes are best sold in May, while olives - in June.

Storing grapes and olives is problematic because you can't keep them in silos. Consider a Grape processing unit and an oil mill: factories where you can process these crops into other products (building a small processing plant and an oil mill costs 36,000 euros each). You can process grapes into juice (14 kg of grapes for 4 liters of juice, 5,500 euros per ton) or raisins (2 kg of grapes for 1 kg of raisins, 5,400 euros per ton). Olives, on the other hand, can be processed into olive oil (25 kg of olives per 10 liters of oil, 8,800 euros per tonne).
