Zanta | Difficult Fights in The Bard's Tale 4 The Bard's Tale 4 Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 16 October 2018
Zanta is a boss you will encounter during the Blood of Kings quest in Bard's Tale IV. He is accompanied by a significant number of skeletons. The amount of skeletons impacts the strength of Zanta's armor. Trying to break through it is pointless - it will regenerate during the next round. Again, you need to focus on dealing mental damage to the enemy, otherwise winning might be difficult. Dragon's Bile Bombs will be effective here, as they are deadly against skeletons.
Bard is an important character class here. Aside from the fact that he can deal mental damage, he can also use Wayland's Watch to weaken enemies. This is important because you first need to kill Zanta, leaving you vulnerable against the skeletons. You can also use Falkentyne's Fury, allowing you to deal additional damage to Zanta. The amount of party members left alive after killing Zanta is crucial here. If you end up with low number of characters, they will not be able to defeat all enemies during a single round. This may lead your defeat, as the skeletons respawn after the enemy turn ends.
Similarly to the encounter with Mangar, practitioners are important here, as they are capable of dealing critical damage to the enemies. Keeping a practitioner alive will make the encounter a lot easier, especially, if there are not many party members left alive. Restoring spell points during this combat can make this encounter significantly easier to win.
