Mangar in Sulphur Springs | Difficult Fights in The Bard's Tale 4 The Bard's Tale 4 Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 16 October 2018
During your adventure in Bard's Tale IV, you will face Mangar again. This time, however, you will have to deal with the enemy yourself. Attack first - you can start with Hide in Shadow ability. Victory will require you to deal a large amount of mental damage, as breaking the armor of the enemy takes too many actions. Therefore, before the fight starts, select abilities that can deal that type of damage for all of your characters. Additionally, you can equip your party members with dragon bile grenades - throwing them does not cost action points and they will deal additional damage to the boss.
Mangar uses summoning totems of power that will give him additional spell points. Use abilities dealing mental damage to bypass his armor. Bards are very useful during this encounter. You need to protect bards in your party - losing a character of that class can make the whole encounter significantly more difficult. Using Song of Compulsory Cavorting you will be able to stun Mangar - use this time to destroy the totems he summoned. This is crucial, as totems give him spell points - those in turn will allow him to use more powerful attacks. Additionally, if you have a second bard in your party, you can use Falkentyne's Fury ability to deal additional damage to Mangar.
Practitioner is a very useful character class during this encounter, mostly due to the ability to deal critical damage to the enemy. Thanks to that, your practitioner will be able to get back a spell point for each performed attack. The chance increases as the number of living allies decrease. This is the character that should be protected at all costs.
