Last update: 10 July 2020
Treat this page as an introduction to this chapter. You will find the definition of the word mob and their types.
Mobs - this is what all the beings in the game are called. They appear in hostile, neutral and passive version. Each one of them has individual features and its usefulness for the game (cows give milk and creepers - gunpowder). All of them have a definite number of health points (in some cases also armor or weapons), and they are susceptible to damage as much as your character is (they can be burned up, die after a fall from height) and also have a preset distance at which they can detect your character (usually, it is 16 bricks).
Apart from the elements of armor that they wear, or weaponry, how strong the enemies are is determined by the difficulty level. The enemy mobs can be, most usually, encountered underground or at night, but some of them (e.g. Enderman) also appear in daylight, where the other ones (e.g. Blaze) only in the specific worlds or biomes (Mooshroom - mushroom biome). Spawning places, therefore, are determined by the biome, amount of light but also by the distance from your character and the occurrence of the, so called, Spawners - the blocks around which infinite numbers of monsters, of the type determined by the icon in the spawner, spawn.
each one of the mobs, regardless of whether it is an enemy, neutral or allied mob, may be obliterated by the player. In the case of attack, the neutral ones often become hostile (apart from Villagers, who hide in their houses), and the allied ones usually do not react to your character's attacks.
