Planks
Used as a building element, powers the furnace, and to create the other wooden elements.
Sticks
The Sticks main purpose is to work as a component for torches and tool handles.
Torch
When placed on virtually any surface (also on the block sides), torches provide light.
Furnace
Used for smelting ores, food preparation and crafting of items that cannot be obtained in any other way. Standard equipment of any house.
Chest
The Chest is a storage object. It requires one empty block above it to be opened. If it is destroyed, the items inside will remain intact and it will be possible to collect them.
Bed
The Bed allows you to sleep at night. While playing with the other players, all of the players need to go to bed, for the morning to come. After you get up, the Bed becomes the spawn point for the player, unless it is destroyed, or the player sleeps in another bed which then assumes the function of spawn point.
Brewing Stand
The Brewing Stand allows you to craft potions.
Ender Chest
An unique type of chest, whose contents are visible and can be collected from all the chests of this type for each player. At an attempt to collect the chest breaks up into 8 chunks of obsidian.
Anvil
This item allows you to blend two items into one (repair) or to enchant, using the enchanted book.
Cauldron
The Cauldron is used for storing water (it holds one bucket-full, you can fill three glass bottles from it).
Note Block
A block that produces sound, if activated. The sound depends on the block's tuning.
Bookcase
Serves as a decorative element and as a boost to the Enchantment Table.
Jukebox
Its only use is to play music discs.
Enchantment Table
Used to enchant items. You can enhance the effect of enchanting by putting bookcases around it.
Beacon
A special device which, if placed on the top of a pyramid of valuable minerals, provides the player with Buffs
Doors
Doors, which can be opened and closed. The can also be crafted using metal. Wooden door is less durable and it can be destroyed by Zombie, but it can be opened with the "Use" button. Iron door is much more durable and it can only be opened with redstone signal (pressure plate, button, leveler).
Trapdoors
Trapdoors function like regular doors. They can be activated with the redstone signal.
Glowstone
Out of 4 Glowstone Dusts, you can craft one glowstone.
Sandstone Slab
A building and decorative element. You can achieve the same result with Blocks of quartz.
Slab
You can arrange individual slabs in the way presented in the above screenshot, to construct stairs or platforms. You can also use boards.
Stairs
Stairs built in this way have the height of one block and you do not need to jump over them.
Stone Brick
You can obtain some other decorative blocks in this way (e.g. out of clay).
Cobblestone Wall
The wall is an alternative for the wooden fence. You can build it using the cobblestone with vines.
Snow Block
It is used to store snow, as a decorative element and to build Snow Golems.
Jack-O-Lantern
A glowing pumpkin. It also glows under the water, and the amount of light it generates is a bit higher.
Ladder
The ladder can be placed on the sides of blocks to climb up and down.
Iron Bars
The Bars function like the wooden fence, but their height is equal to one block.
Glass Pane
Glass panes can be used instead of the full blocks of glass.
Fence
The fence can be used to delimit plots, grow animals or as a decorative element, if placed one on top of the other. You cannot directly jump over the fence of the height of one. That is why it is a good protection against mobs (apart from spiders). You can also build it using the Nether bricks.
Fence Gate
An open-able gate that fits the fence.
Bricks
A building element. Using four bricks you can obtain a block of bricks. You can also use the Nether Brick.
