Ways of enchanting items

Enchantment Table

Enchanting, of items is used to increase their modifiers (armor is more durable, the sword deals more damage etc.). You can enchant all of the items by using the Enchantment Table, but you can also use some other options. All methods that you can employ to enchant an item are:

  1. With the Enchantment Table (optionally with bookshelves),
  2. With the Enchanted book, using the anvil,
  3. With the anvil, by combining two enchanted items,
  4. By visiting the village Priest (for emeralds)

How does Enchantment Table work

The most common and the most close to the player is the method employing the Enchantment Table. The maximum level of enchantment is 30. For the Enchantment Table to reach its top effectiveness (i.e. to enchant up to the 30th level, you need to put, at least, 9 bookshelves, not further away, and not higher than 1 block of the table.

After you open the table's interface, you will notice, on the left, a slot for an item to be enchanted. The panels on the right are used for selection of the enchantment level. An important thing is that, to enchant an item to the specified level, you need to have obtained the corresponding experience level.

Armor enchantments

Minecraft offers a lot of armor enchantments. They mainly offer resistance to elements.

Protection

Effect: Reduces damage received

Max level: IV

Fire Protection

Effect: Reduces fire damage

Max level: IV

Feather Falling

Effect: Reduces fall damage

Max level: IV

Blast Protection

Effect: Reduces explosion damage and knockback

Max level: IV

Projectile Protection

Effect: Reduces projectile damage

Max level: IV

Respiration

Effect: Extends underwater breathing time

Max level: III

Aqua Affinity

Effect: Increases underwater mining speed

Max level: I

Thorns

Effect: Deals damage to attacker

Max level: III

Depth Strider

Effect: Increases underwater movement speed

Max level: III

Frost Walker

Effect: Turns water beneath the player into frosted ice

Max level: II

Soul Speed

Effect: Increases walking speed on soul sand and soul soil

Max level: III

Weapon enchantments

In Minecraft, there are many weapon enchantments. They mainly influence the damage dealt to various enemy classes.

Sharpness

Effect: Increases damage

Max level: V

Smite

Effect: Increases damage dealt to zombies, zombie pigmen, skeletons, wither skeletons, zombie villagers, husks, strays, drowned, withers, phantoms, and skeleton horses

Max level: V

Bane of Arthropods

Effect: Additional damage dealt to spiders, cave spiders, silverfish, and bees

Max level: V

Knockback

Effect: Increases knockback

Max level: II

Fire Aspect

Effect: Sets target on fire

Max level: II

Looting

Effect: Increases mob loot

Max level: III

Power

Efekt: Increases arrow damage

Punch

Effect: Increases arrow knockback

Flame

Effect: Arrows set target on fire

Max level: I

Infinity

Effect: Shooting doesn't consume ammo

Max level: I

Loyalty

Effect: Trident returns after being thrown

Max level: III

Channeling

Effect: During thunderstorms, target hit by a trident will be electrocuted

Max level: I

Impaling

Effect: Trident deals increased damage to underwater entities

Max level: V

Riptide

Effect: Trident allows the player to teleport, provided you're in water or there is a thunderstorm above

Max level: III

Quick Charge

Effect: Decreases crossbow charging time

Max level: III

Multishot

Effect: Fires three arrows with a single shot

Max level: I

Piercing

Effect: Arrows fly through mobs and deal additional damage

Max level: IV

Tool enchantments

Minecraft offers a lot of enchantments that affect tools. They mainly influence the speed of mining/fishing resources.

Efficiency

Effect: Increases mining speed.

Max level: V

Silk Touch

Effect: Mined blocks drop themselves, for example, stone blocks are dropped (instead of cobblestone) when mining stone

Max level: I

Unbreaking

Effect: Increases item durability

Max level: III

Fortune

Effect: Increases the amount of mined items

Max level: III

Luck of the Sea

Effect: Increases chance of valuable loot

Max level: III

Lure

Effect: Decreases time it takes for an item to drop

Max level: III
