Prologue of the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is The Battle of Endor. Heroes have to destroy several AT-ST machines here, defeat Emperor Palpatine and contribute to destroying the Death Star.
Last update: 05 July 2016
The prologue is composed of three separate parts and in each one of them you will have access to other playable characters. Below you can find a detailed description of this level, which focuses solely on the walkthrough. The information about secrets hidden here can be found in a separate chapter of this guide.
- Fighting on the planet Endor
- Duel with Emperor Palpatine in the Death Star's throne room
- Destroying the Death Star
Fighting on the planet Endor
Select any of the playable characters and start eliminating nearby stormtroopers. You can either use blasters, or rely solely on melee combat. In the latter case you should try and use the action allowing you to finish off weakened enemies (this can be done by pressing a separate button).
As soon as an AT-ST walker appears in the area look around the area for bouncing blocks - those can be used for construction. In order to get to the elevation you must construct a trampoline on the left side of the area - to do so, press and hold the left button, or tilt the analog stick to the left side. Afterwards, jump on the trampoline and bounce off it.
From this moment onwards try to avoid AT-ST's fire. Don't even think about attacking it in a conventional manner - the walker can be destroyed only be interacting with certain elements of the environment.
Focus on the left side of the clearing, or to be more specific on the anchor point shown on the above screenshot. Switch over to either Han Solo or Princess Leia and grab onto the said point. Doing so will unlock a new playable character for this level - Ewok Wicket. Switch your character to Wicket and use him to go through the hole located at the base of the tree. Move the large cage to the left side - it must fall to the lower ground.
Select one of the playable characters located on the clearing and interact with nearby bouncing blocks - use them to construct a ladder leading on top of the tree where Wicket can be found. Afterwards, select Chewbacca, reach the upper balcony and interact with the grip located there.
Get back to the lower ground and keep controlling Chewbacca. Head to the right from the place where the AT-ST walker can be found. You will find a next grip here which you must use. Afterwards, a short cut-scene will initiate, during which you will witness the destruction of the AT-ST. Also, a new passage will be unlocked.
Select one of the characters equipped with a blaster and run to the nearby barricade. Press the appropriate button to use the barricade as a cover. You must now eliminate stormtroopers occupying surrounding hills and the road. Lean out of cover a for a short time, fire at the enemy you've located and then get back behind the cover before the enemy is able to retaliate. Rinse and repeat this until all of the enemies in the area are eliminated.
You will soon stumble upon another AT-ST walker. Fortunately, destroying it is trivial - you just have to shoot at the red boxes located right next to the machine.
Select Wicket now and go to the next area. Locate a group of Ewoks, approach them and press the interaction button to order them to follow the leader. Afterwards, head with an Ewok to a small entrance located at the base of a tree on the left side. After reaching the upper floor, approach a place with numerous wooden logs - push them together with the Ewoks following you. Falling logs will destroy the third AT-ST walker.
Head (as Wicket) to the right, to a clearing where the third AT-ST walker was located. Interact with the bouncing blocks to construct a stationary cannon. Use the said cannon to destroy a barricade on the left side.
The game will unlock R2-D2, but don't swap to that character yet. Destroy the stationary cannon and construct a terminal on the right side. Additionally, you must construct a bridge at the location shown on the above screen - the robot will be able to use it to cross to the other side. Select R2-D2, head to the terminal and interact with it. You must hack the security terminal, which is an easy task - use the directional buttons (or the analog stick) to hack through subsequent security measures.
Hacking the terminal will cause the elevator to become active. Use it to get to the upper floor and continue your march. After getting rid of the stormtroopers in the area, head to the right side of the area and start building a vertical construction with an interactive grip. Grab onto the grip with either Han Solo or Princess Leia.
You will land on the AT-ST Walker in order to hijack the vehicle. In order to do so, you must press the interaction button when the indicator is in the blue field. Afterwards, continue your journey as the pilot of the AT-ST. Use blasters to destroy all of the obstacles. However, you don't have to attack all stormtroopers that you stumble upon doing the march. After reaching an elevated bridge you must destroy the weights located on the left and right side of it to unlock further passage.
You should soon encounter other AT-ST walkers. You should fire at them as quickly as possible and preferably from a safe distance. Continue your march until you arrive at the entrance to the base. Leave the AT-ST walker, interact with the bouncing blocks and start constructing an object to the left or to the right of the entrance. A cut-scene will initiate.
Duel with Emperor Palpatine in the Death Star's throne room
In this part of the prologue the playable characters are Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. You can play with any of the characters, but in some places a close cooperation of them will be required. Don't try to attack Palpatine directly, as he is surrounded by a protective force field. Start the encounter by eliminating his underlings (more of them will appear in further parts of the duel). Luke can use light side of the Force to stun them, whereas Darth Vader can use the dark side of the Force to choke them.
Focus your attention on the metal handles located to the left and to the right of the Emperor Palpatine - both can be seen on the above screenshot. Use Force on any of them to cause some damage to the enemy boss. When the second phase of the encounter starts, try to dodge the lightning attacks of the enemy (the easiest way to achieve it is to remain in motion). While avoiding enemy attacks you must try to use the Force on the other metal handle.
Palpatine will destroy the handles, which is why you must change your tactics. Focus your attention on the bouncing blocks located at the bottom of the screen. You can use them to construct a miniature spaceship. Depending on the type of the ship you've constructed, you must use light or dark side of the Force to set it in motion.
After the Emperor sustained damage, construct another spaceship (but not the same as the previous one!) and use the Force on it. Palpatine will soon knockback both of the characters and the next phase of the encounter will begin.
Don't try to approach Emperor Palpatine, as you still won't be able to damage him with your lightsaber. Instead, look around the area and find objects that you can interact with by using the Force on them - those objects will then deal damage to the boss. Those are, above all else, generators located behind the Emperor. Additionally, look at the shields located on top of the screen - you can throw your lightsaber at them (by using manual aiming mode). Some of those objects can only be interacted by Luke Skywalker, whereas others can by influenced by Darth Vader.
After Palpatine loses all of his hearts, you will need to finish him off by playing as Darth Vader. This is an easy task, as all you have to do is to rhythmically press the buttons that appear on the screen. Afterwards, throw the Emperor over the railing.
Destroying the Death Star
The final part of the prologue starts on board of the Millennium Falcon, after the assault on the Death Star has already begun. The course is pre-defined, but you can destroy various enemy ships and elements of the Death Star on your way. In the further part of the section stay away from the red crosshair-like objects appearing on the screen - otherwise you will be attacked by other machines.
Continue your flight until you reach the generator chamber of the Death Star. You must first expose it - fire at the round blue elements. After all of the shields are taken care of, fly around the chamber with the generator core. You can help yourself by using the booster and by rotating to the sides in order to avoid enemy fire. You must now focus your attention on the three objects marked in purple. Shooting at them and destroying them will result in the explosion of the Death Start. It will also complete the prologue.
