Last update: 14 July 2016
Poe to the Rescue is one of the longer side quests in the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Completing it is recommended as it will allow you to unlock admiral Ackbar, who can be used in the free roam mode of the game. Ackbar is one of the few characters in the game capable of swimming - the ability is required to reach some of the hidden secrets located in several chapters. The mission is divided into three major parts. The heroes must first escape from a large garbage crusher, then go through a hangar and complete the mission by escaping enemies while flying through the asteroid belt.
- Unlocking the mission
- Escape from the garbage crusher
- Fights in the hangar
- Flight through the asteroid belt
Unlocking the mission
The mission is unlocked after completing the prologue of the main storyline (Battle for Endor), but before you can take part in it you must collect at least 10 gold LEGO bricks. Gold bricks can be acquired for completing main quests and discovering secrets associated with them, as well as during exploration of areas in the game.
After accumulating at least 10 gold bricks open the galactic map, select the resistance headquarters located on planet D'Qar, search for the mission on the list (you don't have to travel to the starting location on your own) and confirm the selection to begin it.
Escape from the garbage crusher
As soon as the level starts, head to the left side of the area. Destroy nearby elements and interact with the bouncing blocks. Use them to construct a lift that will be used to pull the monster from the water, allowing you to get rid of it.
You can now reach two interactive handles located on the right side. Make Poe Dameron and Admiral Ackbar climb both of them. Pulling them out of the wall will expose a small water reservoir. Select Admiral Ackbar and jump into the water. Afterwards, admiral will throw a number of interactive blocks from the water. Use the bouncing blocks to construct a launcher, place BB-8 on top of it and catapult the robot.
BB-8 will land on the upper balconies, inaccessible for the rest of the characters. Move the robot to the left, approach the terminal and interact with it.
The room will now shrink, but your characters aren't in any danger. Switch to Admiral Ackbar, grab onto the upper handle and pull it out of the wall. Afterwards, new interactive blocks will appear in the area - use them to construct a large object on the left side of the room. Activate the device you've just constructed with BB-8 and you will flush out a new monster hidden in the nearby water reservoir.
Select Admiral Ackbar, go through the area recently occupied by the monster and reach a new water reservoir. This time, however, Ackbar won't pull out new interactive objects out of the water. Instead, he will swim through an invisible tunnel and will be transported to the further part of the room. Afterwards, use the nearby ramp and use Ackbar to reach a lever located on the nearby wall.
When the cut-scene ends, look around the area. Construct a socket with the new interactive blocks and place BB-8 there. Head to the left, destroy another objects and construct a new mechanism at the place shown on the above screenshot. Now interact with the object as Admiral Ackbar. This will construct a drawbridge.
The further part of the level will require close cooperation between Admiral Ackbar and C-3PO. Additionally, the above screenshot will help you solve the puzzle. Select C-3PO and reach the platform located on the right side (number 1 on the above screenshot). Switch to Admiral Ackbar, locate nearby interactive blocks and construct a pressure plate near the place where C-3PO can be located. Afterwards, stand on the pressure plate so that the platform C-3PO is standing on can be raised.
After C-3PO reaches a new place destroy the object you've just constructed. A new obstacle on C-3PO's way is a drawbridge (number 2 on the above screenshot). Use Admiral Ackbar to construct a mechanism below the bridge - this will lower the bridge. C-3PO will go further to the left. Destroy the central mechanism and construct an object on the left side (number 3 on the above screenshot). Wait for the elevator to come down and C-3PO to get on top of it. Afterwards, destroy the newly constructed object - this will cause the elevator to go up.
Switch back to C-3PO who should now be standing on the balcony. There's a terminal reserved for that character. The solution to the puzzle is easy - select the green (middle) sign, then the yellow (upper) one and finish it by selecting the red (bottom) sign. The entrance to the main part of the base will be unlocked and all of the characters will be transferred there.
Fights in the hangar
Defeat the first group of stormtroopers and start marching through the main corridor. You should soon reach an active force field. Switch to BB-8 and hack the terminal on the right side.
Continue fighting with the enemies. The entrance to the next part of the base is blocked by the scanner, requiring a certain headgear equipped to get past it. Switch to Poe Dameron, head to the left, locate the changing room and interact with it. Select the first helmed on the list (shown on the above screenshot). Afterwards, get back to the scanner and wait for the door to open. You can now go to the main part of the hangar, where a series of blaster battles will take place.
During the first part of the battle there's five regular stormtroopers to defeat, as well as a single one equipped with a heavy blaster. You don't have to use fancy tactics here. Remember to stay behind cover, especially when the character you're controlling is attacked by the enemy with the heavy blaster. During the second phase of the battle there are only regular stormtroopers to defeat.
The third part is the hardest one. Here you must destroy a large cannon protected by a force shield. Switch to Admiral Ackbar - he should automatically flank the operator of the cannon. Aim and shoot at the button marked on the above screenshot. This will release a rancor beast, ending the blaster battle.
Defeat a new group of stormtroopers and examine the corners of the room where the blaster battle took place. There are interactive blocks located in one of them. After you've interacted with them, start pushing the large object towards the socket. Afterwards, a service lift will be activated. Use it to reach a new area.
Wait for the elevator to reach the lower floor and eliminate the last group of stormtroopers. Go through a small passage on the left side. You will now advance to the last phase of this mission.
Flight through the asteroid belt
In the next phase of the mission you will be controlling Poe Dameron's X-Wing. The phase starts from a linear section, during which you should try to shoot down enemy TIE Fighters flying in the area. The next part is a flight through one of the asteroids - during this section you should focus on avoiding red crosshairs of the enemy fighters, preventing you from receiving damage from their attacks.
You should soon reach a place where you will assume full control over the X-Wing. Your task here is to destroy fifteen TIE Fighters - you can target enemies in any order you want.
The next task is a little bit more complicated. You must destroy three large boulders located on top of the asteroid - those block entrance to its tunnels. In order to do so, you must use photon torpedoes. The only way you can get them is by destroying TIE Fighters carrying them on their boards. After you've acquired them, head towards one of the boulders, wait for the X-Wing to aim at the target and launch the torpedoes. The mission will end after you destroy the third boulder.
