Chapter 5 - Maz's Castle | Minikits and red bricks LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Guide

On this page, you can find all of the information that you are going to need to find and obtain 10 minikits and a red LEGO brick in mission "Maz's Castle" which is the fifth chapter of the main storyline. Try to find these collectibles in the free game mode. Additionally, read information provided below, where you find information such as how to prepare yourself properly for the hunt.

Important information

It is best to try to find collectibles in this chapter in the free game mode, only after you have unlocked a greater number of playable characters. Only several of those collectibles can be found while playing this chapter for the first time (in the story mode).

A very important piece of information is that some of the collectibles cannot be obtained only with characters that you have obtained in the story mode. The first one of such collectibles is the red LEGO brick. It is behind a cracked wall and to obtain it, you need a character that can ram through cracked walls. Open the window of the available characters and buy e.g. Grummgar (the above screenshot) or Wampa.

Another collectible that is more difficult to obtain is minikit 5. it is on the balcony that you can only reach as a character equipped with jetpack. One of the characters that has it is Athgar Heece and you can obtain him after you complete the "Return of Lor San Tekka" side mission. The last one of the problematic collectibles is minikit 2. To obtain it, you need a character that can swim, e.g. Admiral Ackbar, who becomes available after you complete the "Poe to the rescue" side mission.

Apart from obtaining the collectibles, you can try to obtain the title of the True Jedi. It is awarded in this mission "Maz's Castle" after you collect, at least 100000 studs.

Minikit 1/10

Special requirements: none

Location and how to unlock: You can obtain this minikit either in the story mode or in the free game mode. It is connected with the small creatures that you find at the beginning of this chapter. In total, there are 9 of them to kill (three groups). This is not too problematic, because they attack your characters automatically in locations that you have to visit anyway. You will find the last group of these creatures after you reach the yard with the sleeping guard.

Red LEGO brick

Reward for obtaining the brick: stud multiplier x6

Special requirements: a character that can ram through cracked walls (e.g. Grummgar)

Location and how to unlock: You can obtain this red LEGO brick at the very beginning of this chapter. On the right, there is a cracked wall. You have to use here a character that can ram through this type of walls, e.g. Grummgar. Thanks to this, you will enter a small stash with the collectible.

Minikit 2/10

Special requirements: a character that can swim (e.g. Admiral Ackbar)

Location and how to unlock: You can find this minikit at the very beginning of this chapter. Follow the path to the right and, right before you walk into the big yard, find a small water reservoir on the right. Admiral Ackbar, or any other character that can swim, has to jump into the water. The character will get out elements of the minikit which you only have to assemble.

Minikit 3/10

Special requirements: none

Location and how to unlock: You can obtain this minikit either in the story mode or in the free game mode. After you have walked into the courtyard, find the button marked in the above screenshot, on the right. Shoot it with any ranged weapon, thanks to which the minikit appears.

Minikit 4/10

Special requirements: none

Location and how to unlock: You can obtain this minikit either in the story mode or in the free game mode. This collectible is on the left balcony, which you can reach either as Rey or any other character that can climb over walls. Before you throw the plant pot down, examine the left recess, which is where the minikit is.

Minikit 5/10

Special requirements: a character equipped with jetpack (e.g. Athgar Heece)

Location and how to unlock: You can try to obtain this minikit right after you have found the above one. Remain on the balcony with the plant pot and switch to a character with jetpack (e.g. Athgar Heece). Use the pack to reach the neighboring balcony shown in the above screenshot. This is where you find this minikit.

Minikit 6/10

Special requirements: a character equipped with jetpack (e.g. Athgar Heece), a character that can use small hatches (e.g. BB-8)

Location and how to unlock: You can obtain this minikit right after you have found the above one. Remain on the balcony, do that you have reached using jetpack. There is a hatch here, and it can be used by BB-8 or any other short character. Along this hatch, you will get to the upper-right balcony, where you obtain the minikit automatically.

Minikit 7/10

Special requirements: none

Location and how to unlock: You can obtain this minikit either in the story mode or in the free game mode. Right after you reach the palace cellar, backtrack and climb up the stairs. The minikit is behind the right wall.

Minikit 8/10

Special requirements: none

Location and how to unlock: You can obtain this minikit either in the story mode or in the free game mode. To do this, you will have to destroy four cobwebs in different parts of the cellar. The first one is in the first corridor of the basement. Use any ranged weapon to destroy it.

You find the second cobweb on the left side of the gate, which you can only lightly lift at the beginning, just enough to allow Rey to slip underneath.

You will find the third cobweb right after you solve the puzzle with statues and you open the large gate.

You can find the last cobweb at the end of the corridor, to the left of the third one. Destroying it rewards you with the minikit.

Minikit 9/10

Special requirements: a character that can destroy silver objects (e.g. Chewbacca)

Location and how to unlock: To find this minikit, you will have to backtrack to the right of the spot where you have destroyed the fourth cobweb connected with minikit 8. Stand in the spot shown in the above screenshot where the third cobweb used to be. There is a silver wall that you have to destroy, for which you can use Chewbacca or any other character equipped with thermal detonators. Walk into the small room, where you find the collectible.

Minikit 10/10

Special requirements: a character that uses the Force (e.g. Luke or Darth Vader)

Location and how to unlock: This minikit is in the last room of the cellar where you solve the puzzle with cogs. In the bottom-right corner, there is a small stash that you can open as any character that uses the Force.
