Chapter 1 - Assault on Jakku | Minikits and red bricks LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Guide

This chapter contains information about the locations and acquisition method of ten minikits and a red LEGO brick in the Assault on Jakku mission, the first chapter of the main storyline. You should look for those secrets in the free roam mode of the game. Additionally, you should read the information listed below, containing, for instance, hints about proper preparations for the search.

Important information

You should look for the secrets hidden in this mission while playing in the free roam mode, after unlocking a wide array of different playable characters. Only a few of the following collectibles can be acquired during the completion of the chapter (during the story mode).

Note that two of the minikits can be acquired only be using the characters unlocked by completing the whole story mode of the game. The 8th minikit is located inside of a golden chest and you will need a character capable of destroying golden blocks to acquire it. You can bypass this by opening the character list and purchasing one of the characters with the desired unique ability. This can be, for instance, the stormtrooper equipped with the heavy blaster (Stormtrooper Heavy) shown on the above screenshot, or a stormtrooper equipped with a flamethrower (Flametrooper). The second problematic minikit is the ninth one. It requires a character capable of swimming. In this case the easiest way to unlock such a character is to complete the Poe to the Rescue side quest, giving you access to Admiral Ackbar.

Another thing worth noting is the fact that during the first chapter you will need to do multiple activities in different part of the map to acquire some of the minikits. This is especially the case with the 4th minikit - subsequent silver towers are located far away from each other. Try to complete all of the activities as presented in this guide and you should have no problems acquiring all of the collectibles.

Aside from secrets you can also try to acquire the True Jedi title. This title is given to the player for collecting at least 80,000 studs during the Assault on Jakku mission.

Minikit 1/10

Special requirements: none

Location and unlocking method: acquiring the first minikit requires you to complete a series of activities in there different parts of a village (you can do that in both the story mode and in free roam mode). Do them as soon as you start the mission, before you discover the weapon storages. Start by destroying objects located to the left side of the starting location, allowing you to build basketball basket and a launcher at the location shown on the above screenshot. Place BB-8 on top of the launcher and catapult it. BB-8 should fly into the basket and the first part of the puzzle will be done.

Examine the upper part of the village and focus on the bowls shown on the above screenshot. Select BB-8, press and hold the appropriate button to increase its movement speed. Direct BB-8 on the bowls to smash them.

Finally, head to the right side of the village and enter a small enclosure. Destroy nearby objects and construct the device shown on the above screenshot. Attach yourself to it while playing as BB-8 and charge the device. A ball will appear. Use any of the characters and lead the ball into the goal. As soon as you "score" you will be given the minikit.

Minikit 2/10

Special requirements: none

Location and unlocking method: the minikit can be acquired both in the story mode or during the free roam. You can acquire it in the first part of the village, before you discover weapon storages. The task here is to construct three barrels in different parts of the village. The first barrel can be constructed in the left side of the village.

The second barrel can be constructed in the upper part of the village, near the bowls.

The third barrel can be constructed in the right side of the village, near the building with one of the weapon storages located inside of it.

Red LEGO brick

Reward for collecting the brick: Fast Build

Special requirements: none

Location and unlocking method: the red LEGO brick can be found during the story mode, or in the free roam mode as well. Focus on the multibuild bricks in the first part of the village, before you discover weapon storages. You must use the mentioned bricks to construct two dolls. Now you must destroy it or wait for Dashe Promenti to do so. After two (different) dolls are destroyed, the red brick you're looking for will appear on the stall.

Minikit 3/10

Special requirements: none

Location and unlocking method: the minikit can be acquired either in the story mode, or during the free roam. It can be acquired quite easily, from inside of the building where you construct the robot required to access the second weapon storage (first part of the village). BEFORE you construct the robot, look for the minikit located on the bottom of the screen and complete constructing it.

Minikit 4/10 - tower 1

Special requirements: a character capable of destroying silver objects (like Chewbacca)

Location and unlocking method: acquisition of the fourth minikit is associated with destruction of three silver towers located in different parts of the village. The first one can be found after advancing from the encounter with the First Order. It can be found on the right side - the location can be seen on the above screenshot. Use Chewbacca and his thermal detonators to destroy it. You can also use a different character capable of affecting silver objects.

Minikit 5/10

Special requirements: none

Location and unlocking method: the minikit can be acquired either in the story mode, or during the free roam. You can collect it after the blaster battle in which you must destroy a cannon and an enemy transport ship. Before you venture to the next part of the village, look for the lone stormtrooper in the distance (as shown on the above screenshot). Hit the enemy with any weapon to acquire the minikit.

Minikit 6/10

Special requirements: a character capable of using the Force (like Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader).

Location and unlocking method: this minikit can be acquired after destroying the water tower during the exploration of the village. Approach the large fragment of the construction and use either the light or the dark side of the Force on it.

Minikit 7/10

Special requirements: none

Location and unlocking method: the minikit can be acquired either in the story mode, or during the free roam. Reach the area unlocked after destroying the water tower. There's a transport ship located there, but for the purpose of the acquisition of the collectible you must cause a second one to appear on the left side (as shown on the above screenshot).

Get rid of the stormtroopers, destroy objects located near the left transport ship and construct a socket on its wall. Connect BB-8 to it. This will allow you to enter the ship and collect the minikit.

Minikit 4/10 - towers 2 and 3

Two more towers required to unlock the fourth minikit can be found in the area with the stormtrooper equipped with the flamethrower. Those are located in the right side of the area and can be seen on the above screenshot. The minikit will be given to you when you destroy the last of the three towers (you should use Chewbacca for the task).

Minikit 8/10

Special requirements: a character capable of destroying golden objects (like a stormtrooper with a heavy blaster).

Location and unlocking method: the minikit can be acquired in the area with the irrigator and the stormtrooper equipped with the flamethrower. A golden chest can be found here - you can see it on the above screenshot. You need, for instance, a stormtrooper with a heavy blaster (Stormtrooper Heavy), or the one equipped with a flamethrower (Flametrooper) to destroy it.

Minikit 9/10

Special requirements: a character capable of swimming (like Admiral Ackbar)

Location and unlocking method: the minikit can be acquired in the area with the irrigator and the stormtrooper equipped with the flamethrower. In the left side of this location there's a water reservoir shown on the above screenshot. A character capable of swimming (like Admiral Ackbar) can jump into it. This will lead him into a small room, where an easy mini-game must be completed. Doing so will give you the minikit.

Minikit 10/10

Special requirements: a character capable of using handles (like Chewbacca).

Location and unlocking method: the minikit can be acquired in the area with the irrigator. To the left of the said object there's a handle shown on the above screenshot. Grab onto it with Chewbacca (or any other capable of doing it). Afterwards, enter the small hut.
