Unlocking the Master Virus boss fight
As a reminder, there are several computer virus battles throughout the game. The first scene of this type switches on during the final part of your stay in Nefarious City, and in all these scenes you control the character of Glitch , that is, an armed miniature robot.
In all scenes except the last one described below, your only task is to destroy all virus nests in a specific location. This will allow you to complete the entire scene.
Hostile viruses and turrets (ranged attacks) will cause you additional trouble in destroying virus nodes and virus nests. Additionally, you also have to switch off the protective barriers to reach every virus nest.
Some Glitch scenes are mandatory, that is, associated with the progress of the main storyline. You can't miss them due to this fact. Two Glitch scenes are optional and only by completing them you will be able to proceed to confront the Master Virus.
The first optional scene is an infected terminal found on the planet Ardolis. This is the northwestern part of the map where one of the Pirate Trials had to be completed. Passing the Glitch scene here is additionally rewarded with a Gold Bolt.
The second optional scene is the terminal found in the catacombs(northwestern part of the map) when you return to Savali later in the main campaign. After jumping down into the catacombs for the first time, you must take interest in the infected console instead of heading towards the Dimension Map in order to acquire it.
If you have correctly completed all scenes before the last one with Savali, the confrontation with the Master Virus will occur after destroying all the normal virus nests. This will unlock the passage from picture 1 leading towards the boss lair.
Description of the Master Virus boss fight
Master Virus is protected by 5 new virus nests, and you must deal with them first. The nests are surrounded by force fields, so as usual you have to follow the cables to the buttons that can deactivate these barriers. Attack the nests only after they get exposed.
While dealing with nests, you have to watch out for turret fire as well as small viruses. Since the turrets are also behind protective barriers, you have to attack them only after reaching the appropriate buttons and disabling the force fields. Run all the time and frequently move to the sides to evade incoming projectiles and bullets.
Additional hint - Some buttons may be on the walls or on the ceiling. Look around or just follow the next black cables.
After you destroy the nests , the energy bar of the Master Virus will appear, that is, the last huge nest. Attack the boss in all ways possible, namely:
- Standard Fire (R2),
- Use Infectors (L2) after they have been charged,
- Detonate the Pulse Charge (X) after it is ready for use.
The second and third methods in the list above will help you win faster. You will receive two rewards for destroying the Master Virus:
- Glitch, Uh, Finds a Way Trophy,
- A Gold Bolt after completing the infected console scene on Savali.
