Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart: Fast Travel - is it available? Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart guide, walkthrough
Last update: 10 June 2021
This page of the guide to Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart explains whether the Fast Travel mechanic is available. Additionally, we have included information on how to explore the visited planets and other main locations more quickly.
As you play through the campaign of Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart , you will visit various locations, including some large planets. The locations you may explore include wastelands, swamps, or woodlands. As a result, reaching your desired destination may take some time.
Unfortunately, you can't use Fast Travel for the most part of the game. Only on selected planets can you find portals similar to the one in the picture above. Once you stand on the portal, you will learn where it can teleport the hero. Unfortunately, you don't get to choose the destination yourself. Portals work both ways, so you can also return to where you first used fast travel in a given location.
Even through the access to fast travel is not easy, you can fortunately take advantage of several useful techniques that can speed up your exploration.
Starting with a visit to the planet Sargasso, you can find and ride creatures called Speetles. Despite their snail-like appearance, they are able to speed up your travel quite a bit. You can even turn on the "boost" and bounce off the ramps. If you lose a Speetle, you can find either another one or a Speetle nest and scare them out of it.
After you return to the planet Sargasso later in the game and complete a side quest near the spaceship's landing zone, you will have the option to ride Trudi - a large flying creature. You can fly on Trudi's back over the entire Sargasso area. Unfortunately, you can't land wherever you want. Designated landing zones are visible on the planet map - you need to press Circle to land when you get close to such a zone.
Trudi is not available on other planets. She appears exclusively on Sargasso.
A very important discovery awaits you on the planet Savali - Hoverboots which you will receive automatically when you progress in the main storyline. They work like roller skates / jet skates. You can now move quickly and accelerate even more by pressing L2 or R2.
When using the Hoverboots, you can find pressure plates that allow you to speed up even more. Many of these types of platforms are next to ramps, and as a result, you can fly very far after bouncing off from them, and e.g. land on an otherwise inaccessible ledge.
The unlocked Hoverboots are now permanently in your equipment, so Rivet will also be able to use them. They will make it much easier for you to traverse the planet surfaces in the rest of the campaign.
