Silver Cup arena fights - how to unlock?
The Silver Cup is not available on your first visit to the arena, i.e. when you reach the Scarstu Debris Field after your first flight from Sargasso.
You must make enough progress - you need to make Dimensionator on Cordelion. In addition, when you return to the Gastropub, you must first defeat Dr. Nefarious in a mandatory boss fight.
After dealing with Nefarious and watching cut-scenes, interact with the arena terminal in the Gastropub. The silver league should be available.
The Mangling
This round is a large battle with 5 waves of opponents. You need to watch out for The Mangler.
Do not try to attack The Mangler, just focus on avoiding his attacks throughout the battle. The Mangler always moves in a straight line - use Phantom Dash to move to the side or use Hoverboots. Try to always have The Mangler in your view to be ready to dodge his attacks while attacking other enemies.
To win this battle, try to use the best weapons you have. You can use Mr. Fungi and the Glove of Doom. Each of these gadgets can summon allies on the battlefield who can help you fight enemies or distract them from Rivet.
Don't forget to smash the crates to collect ammo and health. The reward for surviving all 5 rounds (The Mangler can't be killed) is bolts.
Ka-boomstick Blast
In this round, you have to survive 4 waves of enemies and its main difficulty is that you can only use one firearm - the Warmonger. The game will give this rocket launcher to you even if you haven't unlocked it yet. You can also use melee weapons, but due to the presence of strong enemies, they will only be useful for destroying crates.
Since the launcher has limited ammo, try to attack enemies when they are close together to weaken/eliminate more than one opponent at a time.
You need to destroy the crates located around the central area on a regular basis - they contain ammo for the Warmonger. Fortunately, new crates appear regularly appear on the map.
You should also look around for health chests, but use them only after you have lost a significant portion of health. Use Phantom Dash to avoid attacks, activate Hoverboots while sprinting, and pull yourself towards the rift in the middle of the arena.
Problems will start after advancing to the final fourth round featuring a mini-boss The Contender. This opponent has very similar attacks to the Juggernauts encountered earlier. Watch out for the purple laser attacks (use a double jump or Phantom Dash), as well as the boss's long jumps.
In addition to the mini-boss, you will also face "regular" machines. The arena is small so don't ignore them. Try to quickly take care of the regular opponents so you won't be overwhelmed by them later. Heal yourself only when necessary - there aren't many healing items. Win this battle to receive a large number of bolts.
Pest Control
This battle has an additional challenge. Your task is to eliminate 50 pests (different types of small monsters) before the hero is killed by poison gas. It will be on the arena from the very beginning of the fight, and deplete your health gradually.
Use strong weapons with area damage (e.g. Negatron Collider, Warmonger). You should also get ammunition for gadgets that summon allies (Mr. Fungi, Glove of Doom). Attack each new group of enemies as soon as they pass through the rift.
Try to avoid taking unnecessary damage - the poisoning gas will be annoying enough. Don't destroy the healing chests until your health is down to about 20-30 points.
The reward for surviving the battle is Gold Bolt (collectible).
Freezer Pop
This is a fairly easy round in which your task is to turn opponents into ice cubes and then eliminate them. You will do this by using the Cold Snap - you can use it during the round even if you have not purchased it yet.
The plan is simple - wait for a group of enemies to appear near the hero and then fire Cold Snap at them. Several opponents should be turned into ice cubes. Quickly attack them with your melee weapon to defeat them before the freeze effect wears off.
You must replenish your ammunition supply by taking it from crates. Fortunately, you won't encounter exceptionally strong opponents here. You can also use melee weapons on weaker enemies after they are frozen.
The reward for winning the battle is an upgrade to the melee weapon - the Box Breaker. True to its name, it makes you destroy more crates. Each jump ending with a ground slam will destroy more boxes in the area.
Revenge of the Seekerpede
The game will unlock this final Silver Cup round only after you have completed the previous 4 rounds from this group. This time, you will have to fight an optional boss - Scolo the Seekerpede.
Seekerpede was the boss you had to defeat on the planet Sargasso. Now, you must defeat a larger and stronger variation of the mechanical myriapod.
Scolo the Seekerpede has a similar set of attacks to the "regular" Seekerpede. You need to watch out for:
- upper limb sweeps (double jump)
- shooting a powerful beam (Phantom Dash)
- scattering mines (look around while running in the arena)
In addition, the boss can summon reinforcements, but it is better to ignore them.
Its new attack is to fly above the arena at a low altitude. Dodge this attack by quickly jumping off to the side.
Use your strongest weapon to attack the boss. Since there isn't much ammunition in the arena, you will have to switch between weapons to continue attacking the boss.
The reward for defeating the Seekerpede is Carbonox Chest. It offers a great bonus to the bolts you collect (having 2 out of 3 elements of this set gives you a 10% bonus).
