Bronze Cup arena fights - how to unlock?
The bronze cup is unlocked during the main storyline. This will happen when you visit Scarstu Debris Field for the first time and find Zurkie in the Gastropub.
The Bronze Cup consists of 5 rounds, 2 of which are part of the main storyline. You can do the remaining 3 rounds right away or leave them for later. We do not recommend ignoring the additional fights - winning the last bronze round will reward you with an armor piece that has a bonus to the number of bolts you find. This will make it easier for you to progress through the game.
You can replay rounds that you have already completed. However, the only rewards you will get are bolts. This may be a good way to collect the bolts needed to purchase new weapons from Mrs. Zurkon.
Welcoming Committee
This is one of the two mandatory rounds - we've described it on the Defeating monsters and Francois on the arena page. You must deal with 5 groups of enemies - you have full freedom in choosing your weapons from Rivet's inventory.
The rewards for winning the round are Robot Pirate Boots (reduces the received from pirates).
Monsieur Francois
This is one of the two mandatory rounds - we've described it on the Defeating monsters and Francois on the arena page. You must defeat the boss Francois. The mandatory fight with him will start immediately after defeating Pierre's subordinates.
The rewards for winning the round are Bolts and a part required for fixing Clank (quest item).
Boomstick Blast
Only one firearm is available during this round - The Enforcer (a type of shotgun). You must use it to defeat 25 opponents. Melee weapons are also available in this round, but eliminations done with them don't count.
Try to stay close to your opponents - The Enforcer is only effective at short to medium range. Otherwise, you will just be wasting ammunition.
When you run out of ammo, destroy the crates that appear in the arena. They will also replenish your health. However, be careful not to fall into the lava. Remember to use Phantom Dash and run on walls to avoid ranged attacks.
As a reward, you will receive bolts.
Bugtrax
This round is a time trial in which you must complete an obstacle course using a Speetle. You will have a limited amount of time to get to the finish line.
Use the verniers (hold R1) throughout the entire trial. Avoid hitting obstacles (especially rocks and explosive crates), try to perfectly approach the ramps, and land on subsequent ledges.
During the time trial, you will move between several dimensions - remember to keep holding the verniers button down at all times. Go through the last rift to reach the finish line.
The reward for completing the race is a Gold Bolt(collectible).
A Grunthor Named Sue
The game will unlock this final Bronze Cup round only after you have completed the previous 4 rounds from this group (including the two that were mandatory). This time, you will have to fight an optional boss - Grunthor Sue. She is an Undead Grunthor.
You have already faced Grunthors on Sargasso - the new boss has identical attacks. Sue is able to hurl large boulders. If sprinting to the side isn't enough, activate the Phantom Dash to avoid being hit by a thrown object.
Sue can also fiercely charge at you. Again, you must react quickly if you want to avoid getting hurt. Dodge to the side to avoid being hit. The boss can't change direction once they begin charging, which makes it a bit easier.
The boss is able to send smaller monsters after the hero. It's a good idea to switch to weapons that are highly effective at short range (e.g. The Enforcer) in order to deal with them quickly. Don't wait to attack the boss for too long, as this will unnecessarily increase the total battle time.
The reward for beating Sue is Karbonox Boots. They offer a great bonus to the number of bolts you collect (the bonus for one item from the Karbonox set is 5%).
