Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart: Barriers, forcefields - what to do? Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart guide, walkthrough
Last update: 10 June 2021
On this page of the Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart game guide, you will find out how to deal with vertical barriers and forcefields. Specifically, you will learn how to cross barriers and how to disable forcefields. Both situations will lead to unlocking a passage or reaching some unique loot.
Crossing vertical barriers
You'll start encountering vertical energy barriers once you visit Nefarious City, which is the location after the prologue. They will initially block access to new paths and treasures.
To solve the problem, you will need to encounter the Spectre in Nefarious City, which is an obligatory part of the main plot.
Ratchet will receive a gauntlet from the Spectre and the Phantom Dash ability will be unlocked.
From now on, every time you encounter a vertical energy barrier, you will be able to press the Circle button and your character will phase through it. We recommend using this new ability right away to visit the previously skipped barriers in Nefarious City. A large stash of Raritanium is hidden behind one of them.
Disabling forcefields
You will start encountering sphere-shaped forcefields once you visit planet Savali. Unfortunately, in this case, using the Phantom Dash isn't going to cut it - you need to find a different way to deal with them.
Most of the forcefields can be turned off by running over circular pressure plates. Note the large cable coming off each sphere - it will lead you to the corresponding pressure plate. Use the Hoverboots to begin sprinting and quickly reach all the pressure plates from a given group.
In certain rare cases, forcefields need to be disabled in other ways. For example, it could be related to one of the main mission objectives or require finding an interactive terminal. If you don't see any cables, then check the character's log and look around.
