Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart: Investigate the Nefarious Statue - walkthrough Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart guide, walkthrough
Last update: 17 June 2021
This page of the Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart game guide covers the fourth part of the Nefarious City exploration walkthrough. The walkthrough explains how to reach the statue of Nefarious, how to complete the first sequence with Glitch, and how to defeat the Nefarious City boss - Nefarious Juggernaut.
Travel to the Nefarious Statue
Shortly after Phantom is kidnapped, you will receive a mission objective about reaching the statue of Nefarious, which is located south of the marketplace. Fortunately, you do not have to reuse the path you traveled with Phantom. Use the interactive mechanism, then hop on the rail to return it to the main market area.
Use the two running walls shown in the picture. Choose to run on any of them. As soon as you reach the new location, you will begin the fight against Nefarious Juggernaut.
Boss Fight - Nefarious Juggernaut
Take some time to familiarize yourself with the main attacks of the large enemy machine.
The first of the basic boss attacks is a rocket fire using blue missiles. Try to run sideways and pay attention to the red marks on the floor symbolizing where the projectiles will hit the ground. Remember that you already have the ability to dodge (Phantom Dash) - use it if you suddenly find yourself in a place where one of the projectiles is about to hit.
The second primary attack of the Nefarious Juggernaut is to fire a large laser. You can, just like in the clash with Doctor Nefarious from the prologue, jump over the laser beam (it has to be a double jump), or hide for short moments behind large obstacles in the battle arena.
Nefarious Juggernaut can jump around the arena. You have to move away from the places where the opponent is going to land in order not to get crushed and not to be easily targeted by subsequent boss attacks. In general, try to move constantly throughout the fight and use Phantom Dash in situations where there will be a high risk of injury.
You can use various weapons to attack the boss, with the Negatron Collider being particularly effective. This weapon should be used especially right after the boss finishes a given attack and will not fire another one for a short while. This will allow you to easily aim using the collider.
The jaggernaut will take the fight to another dimension at some point. It does not affect the course of the duel very much. You just have to reckon with the fact that in the new world it might be harder to find a good place to hide from the boss's laser attacks - as a last resort, retreat to get out of their range. Continue attacking the jaggernaut with the same weapons as before.
In the final phase of the duel, you will return through a portal to Nefarious City. Continue to attack the boss until its entire health bar is depleted. If necessary, you can find health and ammo boxes in both worlds.
Use Glitch on the infected console
You must stay in the place where you played the boss fight. There are two consoles located here, and the purple one is the infected console. Interacting with it will lead to the first scene showing asking Glitch to help you get rid of viruses from the system. You will be able to control Glitch - a miniature mech.
The basics of Glitch control are fairly simple:
- You can move the tiny mech with the left analog stick.
- You can rotate the camera and aim with the right analog stick.
- The R2 button is used to fire the Electro-Guns
Glitch can walk on walls and ceilings marked yellow. Start exploring the area and use the cannons to destroy the first barrier.
The game allows you to skip sequences involving Glitch from the pause menu - these riddles are optional. However, we do not advise you to do so because they are not very demanding.
Attack standard enemies from a distance and look around for Virus Nests. After encountering each nest, you must destroy them with Blitz Infectors activated by the L2 button. Correct use of infectors will lead to the appearance of targets on nests confirming that they have been targeted.
Glitch Infectors always require you to wait a few moments until they regenerate, and if necessary, defend yourself in the meantime using your main cannons.
Two other nests are also easily destroyed. Only the last may be problematic. You must use the yellow surfaces to reach the ceiling and shoot the nest being "upside down". By destroying the last nest, you will complete this scene.
When you return to the real world, you will see new cutscenes ending your stay in Nefarious City. The action will move to the planet Sargasso, where you get to control Rivet for the first time .
