Tracking a monster in Monster Hunter World Monster Hunter World Guide

Select your stating gear and start hunting. You are in a new location - the quest starts in a camp. You can collect a few items from the chest nearby. After that you can start tracking a monster.

You have to find monster's tracks.

1. Leave the camp and head deeper into the location. Scoutflies can lead you to nearest monster's tracks.
2. Get closer to them and investigate these tracks. You get a few points that fill the bar on the right a little bit. This bar indicates whether you can locate your target or not.

Keep following Scoutflies.

1. Reach new tracks by following the Scoutflies. Your task is to examine tracks and fill the bar. This will allow you to locate your prey. This shouldn't be difficult to do but remember that a monster needs to be defeated within a certain time limit.
2. On your way you can find many herbs and other materials that you should collect. They are used in crafting where you can make various valuable items.
3. You can come across other monsters while you are tracking your prey. Try to avoid them because each monster only wastes your time that will be useful during a main fight.

You can reach a monster after you have examined enough tracks.

1. After discovering enough tracks the Scoutflies will show you a way to a monster. Follow them and, soon, you will reach your prey.
2. Each monster has certain habits and performs different activities. This means that you can find them in different moments and parts of a map. This one can hunt, rest or go to a water tank. Wait for a right moment and attack.
