How to capture the giant beasts in Monster Hunter World?
Weaken a monster, immobilize it with a Shock Trap and use Tranq Bombs to capture it.
- Besides hunting and killing a monster, your hunter can also weaken a beast and capture it. This is an alternate way of completing a quest objective.
- To catch a monster, you should prepare the following items - Tranq Bombs (you can craft them by combining Sleep Herbs with Parashroom) and Shock Traps (Trap Tool + Thunderbug).
- Then, you have to do the usual stuff: track a monster and fight with it. A monster has to be critically weakened - you can notice that a beast starts limping or it escapes to its nest. Stop attacking that monster and track it.
- Another step is to place a Shock Trap on the ground. Lure the beast to that trap. You can also place it under a sleeping monster.
- An activated Shock Trap shocks a beast. Switch to Tranq Bomb and throw it at the monster. A number of required Tranq Bombs depends on a monster's species (usually, you have to use a minimum of 2 bombs) but the bigger monsters require a lot more of them - throw a few extra ones just to be sure that a monster is put to sleep.
- Capturing a monster gives you a few additional materials. This means that a reward is more valuable.
- The quest ends when you manage to capture a monster. That beast is later transported to Astera. Notice that on the arena (Gathering Hall) you can play a special mission with a previously capture monster!
How to catch pets?
You can catch animals and place them in your room.
- Simply equip yourself with a Capture Net. Its mechanic is the same as the one of the Slingshot - aim and shoot by pressing the triggers.
- You can catch only one pet per mission. Think about which animal you want to add to your collection.
- You can catch multiple creatures that you can later bring to your room and let them roam your room.
