As the game progresses, you will be encountering stronger enemies. At a certain point, you can involuntarily switch from predator to pray and get stuck on a certain monster. If that happens, here's what you can try:
- Better armor. Your current armor may be slightly outdated. If the damage done by the monster appears to be unusually high. You should definitely pay a visit to a blacksmith. Before doing that, hunt for some minor creatures to obtain new materials. You can also try to upgrade your current armor.
- Better weapons. Each weapon has its own upgrade tree; if you've exhausted the upgrade possibilities of a weapon, check whether it's possible to forge that weapon into another variant. Also remember to correlate the elemental damage of your weapon with the type of the enemy (e.g. when fighting a water enemy, use a lightning-based weapon).
- A different weapon. Some monsters can be easily killed with ranged weapons; others are slow enough to allow using a very heavy weapon. Remember that you're not confined to a single type of weapon!
- Eating before the fight. A meal before the fight can mean a world of difference. Especially the better meals can seriously boost your avatar. Remember to always eat something good before a hunt.
- Additional accessories. Consider creating bombs, traps and other items that can stun enemies, etc. This can be really helpful during difficult fights; you will get the few seconds needed to build up a more powerful combo. Some items can also seriously boost the damage your avatar does, as well as other parameters.
- Lure in another monster. The monsters in Monster Hunter World don't exactly adore each other - try to use that and lure another enemy to fight your target.
- Invite others. At every stage of the game, you can invite other players to join your hunt. You can do that before the hunt begins. If the fight has already started, use the flares to call for help. Additional hunters can be really helpful; even if the monster is much stronger, you can revive each other. Mixed teams that use different weapons are extremely efficient. When an archer doesn't have to worry about running away every fifteen seconds, they can deal A LOT of damage.
