Weapon characteristic

1. As the name implies, this weapon is a combination of a lance and a firearm. In contrast to other ranged weapons, the Gunlance is used in melee combat - you can't shoot an enemy from a distance.
2. Besides the Lance, you will be equipped with a shield, one of the most powerful of the ones available in the game. It provides an excellent defense and is an important part of the described weapon. This is mainly due to the fact that you will have low mobility and you will need to focus on blocking attacks.
3. Your main attack will be a lance thrust. At the beginning this combat mechanic might seem a little weird, especially if you've used other weapons before. Here you will be jumping around the enemy, attacking it from melee range and, if necessary, hiding behind the shield.
4. At any moment you can also shoot from the lance, using the secondary attack of the weapon. You can check the available ammo (depleting with each shot) in the upper left corner of the screen. When you use up the ammo, you will be forced to reload the weapon. You can use a special combo attack that fires all of the bullets at once, dealing higher damage.
5. Below the ammo you will find another bar. Once full (you can fill it by hitting enemies with bullets), you will be able to launch a special edge that will attack to the enemy and explode. This is an excellent finisher - once used, you will need to reload the weapon.
6. You can also use the special attack known as Wyvern Fire. The character will charge the weapon for several seconds and finally perform a powerful attack. The power and type of attack depends on the two parameters - Shelling Type and Shelling Level. Note that once the attack is performed, the tip of the weapon will glow red, indicating that it's overheated and you won't be able to use this special attack for some time.

Who is this weapon for?

1. By using this weapon you will feel like a knight in a medieval tournament - you attack the enemy from a half-distance and, if necessary, hide behind the shield. However, the fight is not as dynamic as while using other weapons.
2. You need to jump around the enemy and constantly use the shield. Mobility is not your friend - the size of the weapon prevents any quick movements. You can, however, perform forward and backward dashes, mitigating the lack of mobility to some extent.
3. This weapon is a perfect option if you want to fight in melee and still use a firearm. This weapon is easy to master and will allow you to quickly become an effective hunter.

Summary: An ideal combination of melee combat and the usage of a firearm. Easy to use equipment that is effective in combat, but the lack of mobility might be a problem.

Useful combos

1. The basic thrust combo that ends with the firearm attack. Universal and suitable for any occasion.

2. Another lance combo that can be further expanded with, for instance, firearm attack, after completing Burst Fire.

3. A powerful combo that will end with the Wyrmstake Cannon, firing an exploding blade into the enemy.
