New Master Chief equipment - basic information

Upgrades are located in a separate tab in the game menu windows - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

Upgrades are located in a separate tab in the game menu windows. They are new gadgets related to Master Chief armor, which give you new abilities or let you fight the opponents more creatively.

Initially, only a Grappleshot is available - it's the first of the five main upgrades. You'll find more as you progress in the campaign, and where to locate them is listed in the following subpoints.

Use the directions on the d-pad to select a gadget. Their icons will appear in the corner of the screen, and you have to press the proper button assigned to the active upgrade you want to choose (the passive Shield Core won't appear there).

Each upgrade you can develop further, unlocking its new features and stats - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

Each upgrade you can develop further, unlocking its new features and stats. You do it by spending Spartan Cores, which are in-game development points. You can find the cores in the game world as secrets, and each of them equals 1 point. Individual items from the list of upgrades cost from 1 to 3 development points. Unfortunately, you need to buy them one by one for a given upgrade.

It is worth noting that there are more cores in the game than needed to purchase all items from the upgrade list. Thanks to this, you can improve Master Chief to the maximum before finishing the campaign. However, you will need to explore the open world where the new cores are waiting to be discovered.

Grappleshot

As we mentioned above, the Grappleshot is available from the beginning of the game - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

As we mentioned above, the Grappleshot is available from the beginning of the game. Its main functions are described on a separate page of the guide: "Grappleshot - how to use?" because it is the most useful and versatile gadget in the game.

For the record, the basic version of the Grappleshot allows you to pull the hero to the shelves and edges, as well as to each other weapons and other objects.

You should develop the gadget 100% early in the game and spend on this gadget all the development points earn at the beginning of the campaign - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

You should develop the gadget 100% early in the game and spend on this gadget all the development points earn at the beginning of the campaign:

  1. Voltaic increases the effectiveness of pulling yourself to opponents because they are electrocuted. This will make it easier for you to eliminate opponents or expose them to further attacks.
  2. QuickShot reduces the cooldown of the Grappleshot, and you will appreciate this not only during battles but also during demedning climbs.
  3. First strike allows you to create shock waves when you pull yourself to enemies. You can deal more damage to single enemies or groups.
  4. Reachfall increases the effect of the First Strike, and opponents who are in the range of the ability will be stunned.

Shield Core

You will find this gadget in the main mission called Foundation after you reach the Spartan's body - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

You will find this gadget in the main mission called Foundation after you reach the Spartan's body. You can't miss it.

The Shield Core has a passive character since its feature is to increase the effectiveness of shields protecting Master Chief from damage.

Developing the Shield Core is very simple because Fortress and all subsequent upgrades increase the strength of the shields (each by 15%) allowing them to withstand enemy fire longer - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

Developing the Shield Core is very simple because Fortress and all subsequent upgrades increase the strength of the shields (each by 15%) allowing them to withstand enemy fire longer. The higher the difficulty level you set, the earlier you should unlock these upgrades. On a normal level, other upgrades have a higher priority.

Threat Sensor

You will find this gadget in the main mission called The Tower after you reach the Spartan's helmet - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

You will find this gadget in the main mission called The Tower after you reach the Spartan's helmet. You can't miss it.

The sensor detects nearby enemies, and its most important application is unmasking invisible enemies who use camouflage. The game allows you to "test" it on the boss, Chak'lok, encountered soon after obtaining the gadget.

Threat Sensor has two interesting upgrades - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

Threat Sensor has two interesting upgrades:

  1. Operative adds a second charge (second use) for this gadget. This will allow you to use the sensor more often or place two sensors in different places and increase the effectiveness of finding enemies in a particular battle.
  2. Omniscence allows you to continuously observe the given opponent and read the state of his health. It might help you to plan attacks.

Drop Wall

You will find this gadget in the main mission called Conservatory after you reach the Spartan's corpse - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

You will find this gadget in the main mission called Conservatory after you reach the Spartan's corpse. You can't miss it.

The feature of the Drop Wall is to stop enemy missiles flying towards the hero. At the same time, it allows Master Chief to shoot through it without leaning out from behind the cover. One disadvantage of this gadget is that it is not a physical barrier, so enemies fighting hand-to-hand can pass through it.

The most helpful are the last 2 Drop Wall upgrades - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

The most helpful are the last 2 Drop Wall upgrades:

  1. Blockade increases the size of the Wall and its strength before being destroyed by enemies. Both of these features allow you to use it more effectively in large-scale battles.
  2. Direct current adds electric damage for projectiles that pass through the Wall. You can even more effectively attack enemies from behind the Wall.

Thruster

You will find this gadget in the main mission called Conservatory after you reach the Spartan's corpse - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

You will find this gadget in the main mission called Conservatory after you reach the Spartan's corpse. You can't miss it.

The Thruster allows you to dodge by quickly moving in the desired direction. In our opinion, this is not a particularly useful gadget because its use requires setting it as active. It is better to use a Grappleshot, thanks to which you can move away from dangerous enemies or bombing sites for a much greater distance.

If you still plan to develop the Thruster, consider unlocking Grappleshot - Halo Infinite: Upgrades - new gadgets - Basics - Halo Infinite Guide

If you still plan to develop the Thruster, consider unlocking Grappleshot. It adds a second charge allowing you to perform two dodges in a row or using a single dodge more frequently (while waiting for the previous charge to cooldown).
