One of the first people you will meet after escaping from the underground facility in the prologue of Fallout London will be Sebastian Gaunt, the leader of the local Vagabonds gang. He will briefly familiarize you with the situation in the ruined capital, and will also suggest you go to the headquarters of one of the two factions. Players starting the game may feel torn about the choice at the very beginning of the adventure. On this page we inform what your choice affects.
Which dialogue option to choose?
After escaping from the underground complex and the train derailing, you will be thrown into one of the dark streets of post-apocalyptic London. Walking along the road, you will eventually encounter a group of three men. Talk to them.
The cap-wearing leader will introduce himself as Sebastian Gaunt. After a short conversation, the leader of the Vagabonds will offer to meet you at his group's headquarters. As an alternative path, he will suggest going to a place known as Thameshaven. In the next dialogue option, you will be able to ask the man about the factions he mentioned, and you will also be able to choose one of 3 options.
The available choices are:
- I think I'll try my luck in Thameshaven. - Sebastian will give you a knife (Balisong) and wish you good luck. Two quests will appear in your journal (Atta-boy, "Data" tab and then "Quests"). Activating the "Charybdis" quest will add to your map and compass the way to the Thamesfolk hideout, i.e. fish-people living on the river bank. The optional quest "Swan & Miter" will encourage you to visit the Vagabonds gang again after you have talked to the inhabitants of Thameshaven.
- And what if none of that sounds appealing to me? - Sebastian will advise you against wandering around London alone, but he will say that he cannot stop you by force. He will give you a knife and then leave with his companions. The exact same quests will appear in your journal as with the previous choice.
- You know what, I'll stick it out with you guys. - The leader of the Vagabonds will praise your decision and invite you to walk together to the gang's headquarters. You will receive the same quests as with the other options, but this time both will be marked as main quests.
As you can probably see, your choice does not matter much. In all cases, you will have the opportunity to visit the headquarters of both factions. You will also be able to start the corresponding series of quests. The only difference is which quests the game will recommend to you to complete first.
Where to go first?
Although the choice between Thameshaven or Vagabonds at the beginning of the game is rather insignificant, we still recommend you stick to Sebastian and his people for the time being. During the journey to the Vagabonds headquarters, the man will provide you with a lot of interesting information about the world.
After reaching the camp and then the Vagabonds headquarters, you will also have the opportunity to get some useful loot, such as firearms or armor, which will be useful later in the underground of Thameshaven.
Of course, there is nothing stopping you from completely ignoring both factions and simply moving in any direction. However, we do not recommend you to do this. The initial quests will give you access to a large amount of equipment and experience points. Doctors located in the headquarters of both groups will also help you recover from permanent debuffs resulting from the train accident.
