You will receive the quest involving visiting Thameshaven shortly after completing the Fallout London prologue. The game provides you with two story paths that you can choose to follow at the beginning of the game. On this page, we will tell you how to get to the hidden settlement on the bank of the Thames river.
Which way to go to Thameshaven?
After completing the prologue and talking to Sebastian Gaunt (you can read more about this interaction on the Thameshaven or Vagabonds? page), 2 new quests will be added to your log. One of them will be Charybdis: a quest that begins the storyline of Thameshaven and the fish-people inhabiting it.
The settlement of Thameshaven is located north-west of the train wreck where you started the game. Take a look at the map in your Atta-boy to see the topography of the streets and head in that direction. We recommend that you first travel north and then turn directly west.
You shouldn't encounter too many dangers in this part of London. However, be aware of the possibility of encountering an occasional hooligan or a mutant shrew.
On your way, you will pass an interesting location: the Prilladog Food Factory. Next to this location, you will meet and be able to recruit Churchill, the dog companion. You can read more about the dog on a separate page of our guide - How to adopt Churchill, the dog?.
Near the entrance to Thameshaven, you'll find the Tommies guards stationed at the barricade. By interacting with the soldier wearing a turban, you will learn that the settlement has a serious problem with mutated animals attacking the inhabitants. After exhausting the dialogue options, the guard will let you through the barricade.
A little further you will find the entrance to Thameshaven itself. Come inside.
How to get through the flooded underground?
In order to reach the actual settlement, first you will have to go through the flooded underground.
Go down the stairs and then turn left. Here you will find a door barricaded with boards. Destroy them by hitting them with your weapon, which will unlock the passage.
Some players have reported problems with breaking the boards mentioned above. If you have a similar problem, try changing your weapon and the angle at which you hit them.
Keep walking along the tunnel and you'll eventually come across a room with a bed. After that, you'll reach a flooded part of the tunnel. Go into the water and turn left, passing through the destroyed subway cars.
In front of the sunken wagon, on the left wall of the tunnel, there is a small passage, where you will have to crouch (the CTRL key).
In the water section, try to move as quickly as possible, as contact with the liquid increases your character's radiation level (the more radiation, the lower your maximum health).
Behind the red door in the tunnel you will find a room with leeches and leaky electrical installations. The sparks falling from the ceiling should kill all the leeches after a while. Wait until all the monsters are dead and then quickly run past the dangerous wires.
Continuing along the hollow path, you will eventually come across Rachel Hall, the leader of the Thamesfolk. The woman will reveal the problems that trouble her settlement. Then, she will ask to rescue Ferryman. You can read more about this quest on a separate page of the guide: How to save Ferryman in the Charybdis quest?.
