After escaping from the scientific facility and the train derailing, the protagonist of Fallout London will be burdened with two negative statuses that affect their effectiveness in combat. These cannot be missed, as they are part of the story exposition. However, on this page of the guide we will tell you how to get rid of them.
How to get rid of Railway Spine?
Railway Spine is a negative result of the train accident that the protagonist was involved in while escaping from an underground laboratory at the beginning of the game. This effect makes your attacks 10% less effective. Fortunately, removing the effect is relatively simple.
After talking to Sebastian Gaunt near the site of the train accident, the game will suggest you go to the headquarters of one of two factions: Thameshaven or Vagabonds. During both visits, you will be asked to complete simple tasks.
- If you stick with the Vagabonds, you will help them defend their headquarters against the hostile Isle of Dogs Syndicate gang.
- If you decide to visit Thameshaven, you will be involved in helping fight mutant monsters.
After completing the mission, you will gain favor with the chosen organization. As a thank you, local doctors will help you deal with the unpleasant effects of the train accident.
You can read more about the first faction choice on the Thameshaven or Vagabonds? page.
At the Swam & Mitre bar (home of the Vagabonds), look for a woman named Yvette. After a short conversation, you can ask her to get rid of the negative effect for you. The medic will be happy to help you for free.
If you went to Thameshaven first and managed to clear the location of dangerous animals, go to the main market hall. In one of the corners of the room you will find a small clinic of Dr. Alan Webb. Upon your request, the Thamesfolk doctor will get rid of the negative effect.
How to get rid of Lab Rat?
The Lab Rat effect is related to your character's past and causes them to receive 10% more damage during combat. Removing this effect is much more difficult and will force you to complete several story quests.
During Heavenslayer quest, you will visit the facility where the special machine of the Angels faction is located. The machine will remove the negative effect. Learn more about the Heavenslayer quest from the page: How to get to Angel Lab? .
Removing the second effect will also allow you to complete the On the Mend main story mission, which you will receive right after the prologue.
