Locating the submarine - Das Boote von Anderen quest
Submarine U-96 is moored on the shore in north London. The earliest you can get there is after you cross the Tower Bridge in the Lands of the Seraph quest related to Thameshaven (Ferryman and Archie).
Go along the shore and you will unlock the Das Boote von Anderen quest by examining the submarine. Be careful when jumping onto the planks and floating platforms. Reach the boat hatch and go inside. Otto and Hans are there, as well as the artificial intelligence Immanuel - Kant.
Where to find the Language Module?
Kant initially only communicates in German and you can try to get the Language Module so that the AI can learn to communicate in English.
The location marked by the game, Upton-Burke Headquarters, is associated with this mission objective. The area is patrolled by Naval Walker machines - these are large walking mines, which, when they notice you, will go towards you to detonate you. You can escape them, sneak around or let your companion approach the machines and take damage for you.
Once inside the building, you'll have to use the elevator. Watch out for more machines - there will be at least 1 Protectron and Laser Turrets on the ceiling. Having good weapons or explosives will help you get through this.
The Language Module lies in front of one of the consoles on the upper floor, as shown on the screenshot. When you approach it, a marker will appear.
Installing the module on the boat
Return to U-96. Talk to the Kant AI again and follow Hans, who will take the language module from you. Immanuel - Kant will begin to communicate in English.
How to unlock the exit from the boat?
Unfortunately, there is a problem - the artificial intelligence will trap everyone on board the submarine, treating them as crew members. This also applies to the main character - the passage to the upper hatch of the boat will be blocked.
Talk to Kant. First, you need to talk about all topics related to philosophy. Select them one by one, then return to the main topic and highlight subsequent dialogue options marked in white, i.e. those that have not been selected yet.
To outsmart the AI, choose the dialogue options What is your sacred duty? and then Ah, so in order to achieve your goals, you treat people as a means to an end.
If the second dialogue option doesn't appear on the list, return to the conversation about philosophy - make sure that you have gone through all the topics.
The mission objective will be updated and the exit from the submarine will be unlocked. Talk to Hans and Otto - it's worth accepting their reward, which is Hans Flamethrower.
There are other ways to deal with the AI, but they may require specific skills. For example, you can hack into the Missile Security System terminal - you will need the Master level of the Hacker perk.
Additional note: Hans has a great Glow-Sighted Calibrated Powerful Hans' Eigentum Pistol on him, which deals as much as 114 points of damage and has modifications installed. You can attack and kill both Germans to search their corpses. It is best to do this only after completing the quest, i.e. after collecting the flamethrower.
