When exploring the map in Fallout London, you will certainly come across mysterious gas clouds covering some of the locations. Upon contact, it imposes a dangerous debuff known as Tunnel Cough. On this page of the guide we will tell you what the symptoms of the disease are, how to get rid of it, and how to avoid infection.
How does Tunnel Cough work?
Tunnel Cough is caused by contact with gas found in certain locations. A distinct red glow and particles in the air will let you know that you are entering a dangerous area.
However, if you happen to enter a gas cloud without proper protection, your character will immediately start losing health, and information about being infected with a disease will appear in the upper left corner of the screen. In such a situation, try to leave the contaminated area as quickly as possible. Leaving the dangerous zone will slow down the disease, but it will not be all.
Tunnel Cough Ailment will also remain active after going out into fresh air. You can view the temporary statuses on your Atta-Boy in the "STAT" tab after pressing the Q key.
Tunnel Cough reduces your Strength and Perception stats by 2 points and constantly reduces your health. Accumulated debuffs cause an infected character to die very quickly, especially if they are in combat.
How to cure Tunnel Cough?
If you happened to get Tunnel Cough but managed to escape the poisonous cloud in time, you still have a chance to survive. Our experience shows that the negative effects of Tunnel Cough disappear after several dozen seconds. So if you don't want to load a save, you can simply "wait out" the illness. Most likely, however, you will need to consume some healing items that will counteract the constant loss of health.
Some players have reported cases of getting infected with Tunnel Cough in situations where it should have been impossible. Worse still, the negative effects of the debuff did not disappear over time. If you happen to encounter a similar bug, the solution may be to use a special modification for the game or enter the appropriate command in the command console.
How to protect yourself from Tunnel Cough?
An effective method of protecting yourself from Tunnel Cough is to obtain and put on a Gas Mask. You will receive this item while completing the main story quest - Heavenslayer. After taking over the Bank of England, the Tommies faction will give you this useful piece of equipment. You'll have the opportunity to test it as part of the same quest when you reach Islington.
Remember, however, that Gas Mask will force you to remove equipped headgear.
