Fallout London: How to get your first weapon? Fallout London guide, tips
You will start the Fallout London mod without weapons and initially have to fight with your fists. This guide page shows you where to find your first weapon and make your initial battles with the rats and cockroaches of the underground facility easier.
Last update: 30 July 2024
During the first hours of playing Fallout London, you'll need to address the issue of not having a weapon. On this page of the guide, we tell you who the first enemies are, whether you can fight with your fists, and where to get your first melee weapon to make the initial clashes easier. Additionally, we show the circumstances of receiving a free Balisong knife.
- Using fists in combat
- First melee weapon
- Free Balisong knife
- First firearm - Thameshaven
- First firearm - Swan & Miter
Using fists in combat
After getting out of the capsule in the first Broken Angel quest you won't find any weapons anywhere in the area - there are no melee weapons or firearms in the laboratory. You can only find some ammo.
Fight with mutants using hand-to-hand combat - with or without using VATS mode. A big convenience is that in the prologue you only encounter weak mutants - these are oversized Radshrews and Radroaches. For each monster you kill, you will receive several experience points. You can also escape from the fight.
First melee weapon
Later in the first quest, you'll reach the passage to the London Bridge Station.
Reach the area with the ticket gates. Look around here for the skeleton of an old man on a bench. Next to the skeleton you will find a Walking Cane - it may be your first melee weapon.
It's worth setting the cane as an active weapon in the PipBoy right away - it deals 17 points of damage.
Free Balisong knife
You will start finding more melee weapons and firearms after beginning the On the Mend quest, i.e. after getting to the surface and unlocking free exploration.
Shortly after you start exploring London, you will meet Sebastian Gaunt - regardless of the course of the conversation, he will give you a free Balisong knife. It deals 16 damage and has quick attacks.
First firearm - Thameshaven
You don't get a firearm right away, because in the initial locations you will not encounter opponents equipped with them. You have to get it as loot or purchase it.
During the Charybdis main quest (you will receive it right after the prologue) you must visit Thameshaven and use the south entrance. Shortly after entering, you will pass through a corridor with hanging cans. In the next room there is a Flare Gun on the table. You should also collect the flares here - you will find more in the further part of the underground location. The Flare Gun is not very strong (9 damage) - the knife you received earlier will still be better.
Later in the same quest, you will receive the mission objective to find the Ferryman. After reaching the man and saving him from the monsters, explore the area. There is a large chest nearby shown in picture 1 - it contains the Suppressed Converted Crude Rifle. It's a strong weapon (37 damage) for long-range attacks, but it requires quite rare .303 ammunition and is best left for stronger enemies.
In the final phase of the quest, you will unlock Thameshaven Market. Find the weapons shop shown in the picture, run by Ahab Herringway.
Ahab offers, e.g. melee weapons, firearms, ammunition, explosives and throwing items(e.g. Molotov cocktails). Unfortunately, all the weapons sold here are very expensive - we recommend using the previously acquired ones for now, and decide on purchasing something after collecting valuable loot and more Tickets.
First firearm - Swan & Miter
You can also obtain good items by going to Swan & Miter, the hideout of the Vagabonds gang - visiting this faction's headquarters is 1 of the 2 quests received after completing the prologue.
Once you get there, you'll notice that the Vagabonds are fighting the Isle of Dogs Syndicate gang. Join the fight and help eliminate the Syndicate members - inside and outside the hideout.
After the fights, search the bodies of the Syndicate members. You can find:
- .32 Pistol (picture 1) - 13 damage points;
- Short Double-Barrel Shotgun (picture 2) - 45 damage points.
The advantage of both these weapons is that they use quite common ammunition. You can often find it as loot and therefore use these weapons regularly.
