How to gain large amounts of gold? | FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions Dragon's Dogma Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Dragon's Dogma offers many ways of easy earning. Gold can be found almost everywhere: you can sell all the items you found, complete main and side quests or find large gold bags in corners of the map (largest one can contain even 10 000 pieces of gold). However, constantly overweighting the character by carrying many items for sell can become boring, not effective and it reduces combat quality. Luckily, there are few worth mentioning ways that allows the so-called "farming" - sacrifice about one hour for performing one action and you will not be lacking gold for long.
Meat
Meet can be easily obtained from any animals - starting with harmless rabbits near Cassardis and finishing on the beefs near Gran Soren. Beefs are the best source of meat but early in the game, while you cannot defeat them with a single hit, it is better to focus on smaller animals. What next? After entering city and leaving it the animals will appear again. Repeat the action until you get as much meat as you can carry.
The next step is waiting 2-4 days until the meat becomes sour. You can use sleeping to make it faster, as even losing few thousands is nothing compared to the profit. Every meat (and vegetables) become more profitable in the early state of decay (meat can become even 10x more valuable). The catch is in not holding the meat for two long - after 5 days it will spoil and become worthless.
Notice boards
Many players prefer to leave this type of quests for the end. If you want to become rich fast - it is a mistake. Most of the quests from notice boards have objectives that can be completed in long term, for example defeating a specific number of enemies. Rewards not always are very high and you shouldn't always focus on completing these quests. However, during your adventures and completing other quests you can unintentionally progress in this side quests as well and suddenly be rewarded with valuable items or gold.
Ur-Dragon
Ur-Dragon can be killed more than once. You will notice after the first battle with him that the reward for defeating him is very nice. However, this method should be used only by players on very high character level that doesn't intend to stop playing after completing the main storyline.
Hard Mode
Hard Mode is recommended for advanced players and ones that like challenges. The key aspects of this mode are increased damage dealt by enemies and faster resistance reduction. However, this mode adds two new benefits: great increase of experience obtaining speed and great improvement in gold accumulating - especially for items dropped by fallen enemies. In this mode you don't need to focus on "farming" - usually traveling through the world and killing monster (maybe not for everyone) is enough to be playing without having to save money.
